Cthonian Stars release date?

SJE

Banded Mongoose
So, will Cthonian Stars be released next week?

And when is the PDF expected to be available for sale?

Thanks,

Steve

We are just waiting to hear back from Wildfire for exact dates, but it is our understanding they are revising a few things to 'put more awesome in'.

That would imply it hasnt been sent to the printers then. So a December release instead?

Matt said "20% more awesome" when I spoke to him last weekend, I told them to aim for 22%, thus allowing a slippage margin

Is 2% slippage even a significant incriment ? What are your confidence intervals around the mean detectable increase in awsomeness ?

(guess who just got through a day of meetings between engineering and marketing as the stats translator...)

And now Cthonian Stars doesnt even appear on the Upcoming Release schedule? So Feb 2011 instead at the earliest?

Just waiting to hear back from the Wildfire guys - don't worry, as soon as we do, we'll let you chaps know what is going on!

I'd prefer 50% more timeliness instead. Last minute changes so late in the day tend to worry me, especially as its been trailed for over a year.

I prefer getting it right rather then pushing it out before it is ready.

I don't know about you, but I just wouldn't be happy with an 18% increase.

It would feel like they weren't putting the effort in.

Well, it may be delayed, but at least that means I got more session time for the vanilla Trav campaign before it arrives. Plus I may actually have the money to buy it when it does arrive. :?

Anything less than 110% effort just isn't trying hard enough these days

23%, now that shows that they really care.

Matt- according to MikeV over at Wildfire

Right now the release is up to the guys at Mongoose.

There also seems to be talk by ChrisMDorn that the delay is due to Wildfire wanting to put the game through a'marketing cycle'- presumably advertising, rather than anything which a non-PR flak might regard as 'awesomeness'.

So what is going on? Are you holding up the book or Wildfire? Is it complete or not? And when will we see it?

Seems that even the guys at Wildfire don't know what is going on. I just played this game today at Neon Con here in Vegas, and I am pretty darn sure I was told a hard cover release for March, but the PDF would be well in advance of that.

BTW, I had a lot of fun playing it.

Plus I got to look at a number of pages within the spiral bound copy he had, and I am pretty confident in saying you guys will love the artwork. The optional rules they are including to help make Traveller fit their setting better sounded pretty cool too, including fear rules. Which you kind of have to do with a Lovecraft influenced product like this is.

So no matter what the actual release date is, I think most, if not all, will agree it was worth the wait.

Yesterday I confirmed the current "schedule". The PDF is planned to be released in March and the print book is scheduled for April. So that is the current plan, subject to change due to printing or shipping issues. PDF should be March, no matter what.

Bit more new here for those interested

I'm worried by the mention of 'more news to come' and "April release... if there is a speedy solution" as that sounds like deeper problems than 'lack of awesome' or waiting for a new solicitation and publicity cycle.

On the plus side- a proper preview is up
