CTA 2e PDFs - on Wargaming Online

Seriously, don't waste your money on photo ink. The photos aren't good enough to warrant it. Some look like jpeg rather than proper print quality images.

Will we get free updates when you correct the pdf?

I'd also like to know this. I don't have an immediate need for the new rules. There are only a handful of people who play around here, and I'm more of a collector/((terrible :) ) painter, than a player. If there are free updates that correct the typos and such, I'll order them now without worry. If not, I'll continue to hold off until they're eventually updated.

Bought the PDF rules and fleet list last week and paid to get it printed and bound at work. Full colour for the fleet lists, black and white (except cover) for the rules on 100gsm paper and got them wire spiral bound.

At the end of the day cost me about the same as if I had ordered them straight from Mongoose. Good deal or not?

From my perspective the printing is excellent (digital colour printing press at work) thought it would have been nice if the covers had been at a higher resolution. Having the books spiral bound is a definite plus. Based on the problems that others have mentioned and my experience in gaming rule books full stop, I think that spiral bound hard covers would be a hit. Also having a PDF file on the computer that I can get replacement pages printed from if required is also good.

However I think that if we can provide proof of purchase we should get free PDF updates. However perhaps Mongoose could take a leaf out of Battlefront's book and have errata and updates in PDF form published free of charge on the website!

Matt, you should have taken my wife's offer to proof read the final before printing. Nothing gets past here eagle eye, especially the miniature purchases I hope will sneak past un-noticed.

Is there much wrong with the pdf? I have it and am very happy with it??

It's not so much that there's a lot wrong with it, but if a new version will be released (like the new printings of the books I've read about) then I would rather get the fixed edition. I don't have an immediate need for the new rules or ships yet. I'm still painting up my EA fleet(s) and keep being distracted by the Centauri/Vorlon/Minbari minis I've collected also, plus there aren't many to play around here. My only stable opponents are my friend who uses my minis as well, and a guy who I met at the FLGS.

If I ordered them now, and a new version was released next week, I'd be unhappy because I'm A-retentive. But if I knew I would get a copy of the new version, or just the fixes, that'd be fantastic. If not, I'll just wait until I can't stand not being able to look at the new goodness anymore, or a revised edition is up for grabs.

So, it's not a huge problem either way for me, I'd just like to know the game plan. 8)

Agreed, I want the PDFs but won't order until I know if I will get a free version of the updated one or fixes.

come on Mongoose, how hard can it be to post a reply either way? That one post will probably get you my money.
