Crit Speed Effects

One thing I don't like is how effective speed lose is on slow ships. One idea I've been playing around with is the following:

-1 speed = 12.5% speed reduction

-2 speed = 25% speed reduction

-4 speed = 50% speed reduction

All you have to do is have a chart with starting speeds to speed lose.

Nice Idea, but without a chart its gonna be a complete pain to administer... Do you round up or down when reducing by 25% or 12.5%.

I really like you thinking, it would make it much fairer on slower ships (and harsher on faster ships). I actually like it when some of my faster ships get engine crits, because it makes them so much more manouverable, a Vorchan at speed 10 with 2/45 turns is a lot nicer than one at 14.

I round down with the speed effects. I know what you mean with the sooner turns. I can't count the times I thought to myself "Thanks for the -4 speed on my Vorchan."

Who says you have to round anything? :p

Suggestion from a friend who doesn't want to look at more charts. Instead of a chart use two different effects based on ships base speed. Ships that move 8 or less loose 1, 2, and 3 speed. Ships that move over 8 get minus 2, 4, and 6.
