creatures of the Cursed Earth

Does anyone know if any of the sourcebooks for the JD RPG have some good information on the Cursed Earth? I have the book for the Undercity and it has flora and fauna among other things and I was wondering if this is covered for the Cursed Earth too.

The Cursed Earth is the sourcebook that needs to happen.

Games Workshop never did one, Mongoose never did one - even John Caliber's fabulous Drokk City sourcebooks never quite got around to The Cursed Earth before he stopped making them.

Best thing to do is, imagine America after a nuclear holocaust - everywhere is devastated and full of mutants except the two surviving Mega Cities (MC1 and Texas City - MC2, of course, having been nuked in Judgement Day, but apparently under Sino-Cit reconstruction)

I just use maps of the USA and imaging the areas as being in ruins - works OK for me.

A Cursed Earth sourcebook is still something I would love to see, though - can't see it happening, unfortunately.

Im working on Cursed Earth and Luna City 1 supplements. The Judge Dredd Case Files 01-02 are great resources. Its a labour of love I hope to finish before the atom war.

'The Hunting Party' book is another great Cursed Earth read - lots of anarchic weirdness and great fun. Other favourite CE stories are the first Hotdog Run (immediately preceded Block Mania/APocalypse War) and 'Dredd Angel', where JD and Mean Machine team up to rescue stolen judge clones, and the good CE stuff in the early parts of the Judge Child saga.

Generally derided at the time (tho I enjoyed it) was the separate 'Helltrekker's story, essentially a Western wagon train off MC1 citizens heading west for a better life. Not sure if it's ever been reprinted though.

All dripping with ideas for campaigns, the CE is a truly great setting. It beggars belief that none of the official games have ever done proper supporting material for it.

In the heart of the Cursed Earth, a vast irradiated wasteland formed in the . Anderson and Dredd follow the creatures, and Anderson channels the wrath of

The Cursed Earth project is coming along very well. The initial mapping of MC-1 to scale is looking very good. Many thanks to Google Earth of course.
Several other maps are coming along, Texas City is one.

Any and all help for key Cursed Earth points of interest are appreciated.

Don't forget Fargoville - birthplace of Judge Fargo from 'Origins'.

The same story also has Hell's Highway, the overland trade route between MC1 and Texas City.

You did name it - it was called 'The Cursed Earth', and it is also in Case Files 02.

Also check out the Megazine story Missionary Man, set out in the Cursed Earth - and The Dead Man, too. And Tale of the Dead Man / Necropolis. And Helltrekkers.

Yes, Cursed Earth Vaccine mission is all set, is Vegas still a corrupt city or was it destroyed in the Zombie War? Or is still going strong?
As for Texas City not sure if my info is exact but it looks to encompass all of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, which makes sense since they were/are key oil producing US states.
Also on my map Sector 190 from the rules sits nearly on top of Pittsburg.
Thanks for all the great info sources, its great fun making this project.

Texas City still stands. There's a good file on it on the Dredd Yahoo Groups site. Probably near where you posted your sector stuff (good stuff in itself).

Here's another CE link: Cursed Earth Koburn. From the Megazine, but I think about to be collected in the Carlos Ezquerra Collection trade paperback, out next month.

Don't forget the Burger Cities from the banned Cursed Earth saga. I'd like to think they're still slugging it out! Speaking of food, there'll be all those munce farms and bisoon ranges - I guess they'd be near the mega-cities for ease of transportation, although the bisoon may range over the old Great Plains.

Thanks;
Ill post a list of what I have soon.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how bad the damage was to small settlements in the Zombie War?
Im going to go out on a limb and say the majority of the undead went straight to attacking the Mega Cities and ignored the smaller areas.

Ill need to refresh my memory of the Burger Wars towns, I know the prog is posted on the net somewhere.

Initial plotting of the Cursed Earth using Dredds mission to MC2

Dredds Cursed Earth Journey

Point 1: Deliverance (formerly Dependance),small ruined post atomic town in West Virginia

Point 2: Keystone City, small ruined post atomic town in West Virginia

Point 2a: New Mount Rushmore, along the remains of the Appalacian Range, West Virginia

Point 3: Hovars House, near the vast ruins of Louisville, Kentucky

Point 3a: Fort Knox, US Gold Depository and Cryogenic Prison of President Booth, Kentucky

Point 3b: Burger Wars Towns, Post-Atomic towns, Kentucky

Point 4: Missisippi River Crossing, Kentucky, Slave Riders near Dorena, Missouri

Point 5: Satanis encounter, near Black Rock, Arkansas

Point 6: Green Giant encounter, near the post atomic Zion Natural Resource Area

Point 7: City of Las Vegas, Nevada

Point 7a: Death Valley War Memorial, Nevada

Point 8: Gate of Mega-City 2, Southern California

The problem with the events of the Burger Wars being after the river crossing was the mention that the conflict occured in Kentucky and Tweak isnt present in the episode. So to choose a position I chose the Burger Wars Event to be in Kentucky as stated but chronologicaly before the river crossing.
Note how the course takes the team around Texas City.

A comprehensive list of Cursed Earth creatures is in the works and may quite possibly have a mutant generator to make your own cursed earth oddities.
I enjoy working on this game system and love talking about it

It all sounds very interesting...I am looking forward to reading your final draft Judge Thrash...Its nice to see the fans keeping the RPG alive.

The zombies were being directly controlled by Sabbat, and his focus was taking down the mega-cities, so I think your assumption is correct. Of course, any settlements that got in the way en route were perfect recruiting grounds for more zombies.

The Sabbat debacle was just an excuse to have the highest kill count in 2000AD ever, thought the story sucked, sadly. Compared to the awesomeness of what our Friendz and Nero Narcos did, which was a tight story with everything you could want from a Dredd epic.

Mind you it still wa a whole heap better than the Penal Colony rebellion (plot holes you could fload the Exxon Valdez through even when completely sozzled) and the reincarnation of Pa and Junior (ugh, ugh, ugh! - best forgotten for sure). So it certainly could have been worse.

As for the zombis trashing places - I would go with the zombies did not bother with the smaller settlements, they would be mopped up much later. After all Sabbat would have to have some fun...

I'd love to see a nicely laid out source for this HUGE area. So much information is lready in the comics to fill at least two books...

I dont know about 2 books but I can definately get one..lol. One of the biggest problems is the numerous inconsistancies, especially with sizes. Im using the map included in the Core Rules as gospel for most of the city sizes. The Dredd yahoo group has a rough copy of the east coast impossed over a Google Earth background, it helps to show the actual size of Mega-City 1. (HUGE!) and a portion of Texas City. I would really like to make a large foldout map similar to the one included in the TSR Gamma World Box sets from the 80s, if anyone is familiar with that.
