Cougar Battle Tank - Can Someone Explain This Please

Looking at the Cougar Battle Tank in Mercenary 2e with side armor 60 and rear armor 45, it would seem that it's main weapon that does 8D6 damage with an AP of 10 and Auto 6 makes it impossible to damage another tank of its class if hit anywhere but the rear and even then, damage being highly improbable.

Did I get this wrong?

I can't remember the vehicle scale calculations in 1st ed. Let's assume it's the same.

Are we sure this tank design is anti-armor? Perhaps it's vs infantry and lightly armored?

Well, nomenclature says it's designed to fight other tanks. If that's not the case, then the label needs to be changed.
