Cool vid from ISS

Neat, thanks for posting.

so many stars, so far away .... And dang the city lights that have crept into my far suburbia I live in.

Seeing the atmospheric effects was more interesting, though, especially when you get to see auroras.

It's kind of sad that that's as far into space as humans are allowed to travel now.

So, so true, especially after watching the moon landings on TV as a kid and thinking like the movie 2001 we will be by the year 2001. We may not even be that far into space in 2101.

I don't recall any history of space flight pre-warp in Star Trek, so maybe we're on that show's schedule.

I thought the Chinese government recently announced a plan for a lunar base in the next decade or two... that seems like the first step in my book, then light manufacturing there, then Mars, then warp! :)

But yeah, it's sad we went to the moon then just turned our backs on her. Probably the first time in human history we went somewhere and didn't develop the area in some fashion.

They are just covering up the fact that they found a first Imperium Scout base on the moon. They bought back the data cores and are hiding the rest.

They even covertly sponsored a number of films about bases on the moon to use as a hoax cover story.

So in a secret lab somewhere in America top scientists are, even now, working on reverse engineering a Jump One drive

But yes its sad, as a person very interested in Science and space the closest my generation will probably ever get to space travel is round a gaming table. To have grown up watching moon landings on the school TV to having seen the final flight and landing of the last Space shuttle live streamed in a window on the second monitor of my PC which is has more processing capability than the entire lunar landing had is truly sad.

In the field of transportation along with a number of others we are going backwards. It is no longer possible to cross the pond super sonic, we are getting back to the point where infections will kill you. All that promise of the future and we ended up in a Gibsoneske cyber punk hell without the cyber.

All I want is a new star to sail to, a new world to walk upon and new wonders to amaze me.

Sounds like something I would do, oh wait I did... (Other then moon landings on the school TV that is).
