Every darn cover he's running around in some goofy rug around his waist, can we get back to some pants, the blue tunic (a la Conan the Barbarian Marvel Comic), fur speedos, or some dang armor!
Enough is enough, the cover for the upcoming SHEM sourcebook looks like some carpet dealer got robbed or some tailor was slick enough to sell Conan a prayer rug and a belt!

No you really don't need to respond to this post, I'm just venting and wondering how I have going to explain this purchase with a dude in a skirt to my ignorant girlfriend.

If Cimmerians were regarded as proto-Celtic-type people, then I guess they're going for the kilt-look this fashion season. I agree with you that some variation would be good, but you gotta love Mr. Quilliams' major artistic skills! 8)
The historical Celts were sometimes described as wearing breeches (bracae, IIRC) to prevent chafing while riding horse.
In a hot region like Shem, Stygia, or the Black Kingdoms, I don't think I'd want to wear more than a kilt or loin-cloth.
