[CONAN] America?

I've noticed that the Americas seem to be lacking on Howard's maps. There appears to be a "socket" for them off of what will eventually become Africa, but that is about it. This is made more interesting by the Hyborian Picts being rather Apache sounding (from my understanding of them anyways) and there being Amazons in the Black Kingdoms (then again, Amazons aren't by nature from the Amazon river area, but you catch my drift). Was there anything penned about what eventually became the Americas?

Ugghhh, per Canon, I don't think there is anything about the american continents. DeCamp did that story which takes place in america/ aztec oriented land.

Hmm now, you made me think.

If Cimmeria is a land-locked country which eventually become the british isles (roughly), then in REH's mind did he think that Pict land would drift east and become the Eastern seaboard of the USA? It fits in with his "proto- Iroquois tribesman description of the Pictish tribe, right?

All of this is speculation, but continental drift was still a very young theory then and I think he recognized the validity of it.

As for a separate description of another "new world" I don't think he did mention it.

Thanks; it does leave a lot of room for me to forge my own saga (something I am often rather loathe to do within someone elses 'verse). I was thinking something like a mix of Vikings in Vinland / Coloumbus, if it ever comes up (my player is serving as a gladiator in some troope in Argos right now).

I was thinking, I recall from history class there being these quasi-perminant cities in the Americas at some point or another very early on, but I -think- they were around northern Alabama. That'll require research. I was tempted to basically shunt Classical Inca, Maya or Aztec style cities into the eastern seaboard of the US (Vinland ways) as well but that might not be all that interesting to him.
