Command teams

Just a question that came up yesterday that I would like a definitive answer too.

With command teams they give 1 unit a 3rd action. When is this action taken?

1. Is it a 3rd action for the unit taken after the other 2.

2. An extra (3rd) action taken when the command team takes their actions?

We decided on reading the card that when it said it grants a team a 3rd action it means it takes 3 action then and there, option 1. Did we do it correctly. I don't have a card handy so can't give the exact wording and we where using Hiromoon's card which whilst excellent are sometimes different to the released cards.

One other question that has just occured to me now as I am posting this, are the actions granted to squads or seperate teams... I assume that if a squad hasn't seperated then the entire squad gains a 3rd action, but if a fire team has split off then either the squad or the FT get the bonus action not both.

P.S. Gibbs (or any lucky so and so who has wave 2 minis) if you have a Command card can you put up the full rule.... It would help :) Cheers

thats how we play it.

its for a fire team, not squad, well thats again how we play it, ie if the squad is complete then all the guys get it if you split of into fire teams only one fire team get sit.

command : so long asthe lieutenant and radio operator remain on the table and within 2" of each other, one friendly unit perturn may be given a bonus third action

hope that helps

Remember in the Basic rules of the game that a unit must take all of it's actions at the same time, before another unit acts. Therefore the bonus action occurs when the unit is taking its other actions.

As for fire teams, remember that when a fire team is separated it operates as a different unit. Therefore if you split into fire teams the bonus action would only affect the models in the fire team you choose to give the benefit to, not the entire original squad.

Hope this helps.

That's how I read it too. Interesting to note that by taking out either the lieutenant OR the radio operator you deny the other side the extra action point. Just a thought.

Yeah, but they are also easy enough to hide, just bung them in some terrain in your deployment zone and make sure there is a protective unit close by.
