Combat Damage Question

When a character takes damage to his characteristics, such as Dexterity, does this also reduce the modifier as well? For example, I have a character with Dex 10 which gives a +1 DM. I am hit and my Dex falls to 7. Do I still have a DM of +1 or does it fall to +0? Thanks.

The rules may not spell this out clearly, but there are multiple mentions in various parts of the CRB where a stat DM is adjusted when it is temporarily altered; including injury/healing.

Thanks. i must have missed them.

For injury and healing see page 75
A seriously wounded character only regains characteristic points
equal to his Endurance DM per day of rest, which means that the
character may never heal naturally and will even get worse if his
Endurance DM is currently negative.

Yup. This is the way Traveller tracks what other systems might call 'criticals' - not so much 'you've taken five wounds and lost the use of your right arm' as 'your dexterity is now 2, so you're going to struggle to hit anyone with that DEX DM+1 dropped to DEX DM-2'
