Clement Sector Character Creation

Matthias Smyth, age 18, native of Moffat (Franklin 0307, B-9B07B7-B), UPP: A5B983, starting skills: Animals/Handling 1, Language/English 1, Science 0, Vacc Suit 0
Notes: Has a Contact responsible for helping him escape his homeworld.
Brief History: Born on Moffat was somehow evacuated back when he was 6 befriending one of his rescuers, was left a stuffed toy he grew emotionally attached to (sigh that's the second time that turned up!) but understanding how lucky he was he became very studious especially in the sciences but during a short vacation was taught how to ride.

I'm thinking of linking this character to the others so his contact is Nia who rescued a group of kids trying to avoid being arrested by the security forces it was this event that led to her eventually being mustered out of the navy about four years ago when the authorities on Moffat finally managed to identify who helped them escape.

Thinking about she formally adopted him to explain why he's still around but not so sure this would make a good PC given he hasn't yet started a career do you think it better to leave him unlinked so it someone else he has a contact with so the character can spend a tour or two before play or leave as is?

Suggestions would be appreciated oh and please post your own character may as well give us all something to reach the books to read up on!

Been thinking about making him an Agent/Corporate in that he's in training and serving aboard her ship functioning as security for the Corporation that owns the ship.

Might work better as Merchant/Marine but I thought he's learning the ropes aboard ship from another crewmember and there's already enough hints that part of the reason for her being mustered out and accepting the ship as part of her mustering out benefits was that one of the Intelligence Services is interested in keeping tabs both on her and the ship's route since it regularly delivers supplies to Viteges which has its own problems thanks to Paulsen Metals and the Debelle family...

So adds Computers 0, Drive 0, Gun Combat 0, Investigate 0, Recon 0 and Streetwise 0 would you have problems adding basic training to an 18 -20 year old assuming he's in the middle of his first tour?

Enemy: Corporate and younger half sister Melody DeBelle who looks upon Nia as a traitor to her family even though Nia isn’t related to the DeBelle family by blood since they only share the same mother after Nia’s father divorced Melody’s mother which freed her to marry Melody’s father.
Noted Equipment: Vitegese Gloves in black & gold (cat symbol on prow of ship in gold on black glove and black on the gold glove), Pistol (actually an old German Pistol given to her by her Guardian on earning her commission in the Vitegese Navy).

Contact: Matthias Smythe (One of a group of six kids she helped rescue from Moffat during her first tour in the Hub Navy. He was recruited as part of the crew as a favour to Hub Intelligence after they rather unsubtly hinted that Moffat had managed to identify the identities of the kids and their rescuers making it clear all of them were at risk)

Brief History:
Born to a South African Mercenary and an American Intelligence Analyst they divorced when Nia was 6 years old leaving her with only an old stuffed Tree Cat toy as a memory of a time when she had an actual family.
Raised by her Paternal Great Aunt until she died when she was barely 12 the Vitegese Court effectively stripped her of her inheritance leaving her in the care of a friend of her Great Aunt who barely managed to help her escape his own underworld links.
She focused on her academic and athletic career managing to graduate from Undergraduate College before entering the Vitegese System Defence Force after failing to continue her College studies.
She started off as an engineer eventually transferring into the general crew before the collapse of the Conduit and the DeBelle family selling off the rights to the three asteroid belts to Paulsen Metals sparked off a civil war that left Viteges independent but dirt poor.
She along with others transferred into the Hub Navy in an attempt to get help from the Hub Federation, but they proved uninterested in resolving the general unrest caused by the Debelle family selling out to Paulsen Metals.
She was eventually mustered out but managed to secure the deeds to an old Atlas Freighter she was assigned to repair during her last tour using the opportunity to become a Free Trader but whilst she hopes to help restore her home world’s fortunes things are far from peaceful in the Clement Sector.

Notes: Considered the Captain and owner of the Atlas Freighter “Nimitz” has been working as a Free Trader for 4 years at this point.
