Can anyone help..i'm looking for the thread for making removable stands...I think Capt Kremmen commented about B&Q clasps but I can't find any...any help festively appreciated...ho ho ho
I looked at them on ebay and they look uhmmm interesting
I guess drill a big hole in the base and then do you attach the other end onto the stem, just glue?
I find the easiest way is brass rods. Green/glue 1cm of 1/16 square brass rod to the bottom of your model. Then green/glue 5cm of 3/32 square brass rod to your base. Sorted.

This is the method that I have been using and it allows you to remove the bases from the ships for storage. So far, I haven't had any problems with breakage. Different models will require different methods of attaching the female jewelry clasps. Since the Hyperion is sort of an oddball, I had to attach the female clasp externally (see photos). On most of my ships, the female clasp is glued inside the model, so it can't be seen. I simply drill out a socket to the size of the female clasp and push it in with a little glue.
The male clasps are drilled out and fitted onto Games Workshop flight stands. They have a small tip on the stem and this tip goes inside the male clasp for stability. The photos should give you an idea of how it works.
If you don't fancy messing about with tubes and clasps, a very simple alternative that I use is to take a pair of small disc-shaped magnets, and glue one to the stand (which will probably need cutting/filing down a bit, but only a bit) and one to the model. They don't come off although they do rotate freely - if you want your Primus to breakdance then this is the route for you.
Just make sure that you've got the magnets the right way around...
