Clarifying Pre-Career Entry requirements

I think this may be a question that has been answered many times before, but can anyone clarify the Entry requirements for the University pre-career education.

In particular, does Entry: EDU 7+, DM+1 if SOC 9+ mean (a) roll 2D+EDU DM, aiming for 7 or greater, with a further DM+1 if 2D+SOC DM is 9 or greater? Or is it (b), roll 2D+EDU DM, aiming for 7 or greater, with a further DM+1 if the SOC characteristic is 9 or greater

Thanks for the prompt reply, Saladman. I am preparing a character creation handout, combining MgT2e corebook, 2300AD plus the Companion options in one place and realised I hadn't got a grip on the basics. Must be my age (and inexperience).

Yeah, the latter. Anything listed as a DM (dice modifier) is added to the roll made against the target listed. p6 has the definition of DM.
