Cimmerian soldier-loss gain or staus quo?

One of my players wants to be a cimmerian soldier.
Now as a cimmerian would he lose any benifits from not choosing an barbarian and instead choosing being a soldier?

Page 19 of the rulebook.

Soldier is not a favored class for Cimmerians, ergo the character does not gain favored class bonus feats at levels 1, 5, and so on.

Does your player want to multiclass into Barbarian later? If he has a Barb./Sold. build in mind, he may want to start with Barb at 1st lvl. to get the 8 extra skill points. Than take Soldier from 2nd lvl. on.

And he loses 2 ref to initiativ roll.
Barbars has 2 ref at 1st lvl. A soldier has 0.
