Checking rules for Plasma Bolt

Hi,

I just need to check I'm not doing my usual trick of adding my own interpretation to the rules

When using the plasma bolt as the range is "limited" to 10 and the weapons tills has energy bleed my understanding is that beyond range 5 1 AD will be lost and at 10 3AD would be lost

Is this correct?
 
as i understand, range 5.1-7.5: -1AD, range 7.6-10: -3AD. Roll to hit, with '6' leaking. Roll AD of torp as straight damage, but with Plasma weapon effects.

so an S bolted at range 6 would roll 3AD (3-18) damage, at range 8 would roll 1AD.

My understanding is that Energy Bleed applies to the new range of the weapon. As such, half range for a plasa bolt would indeed be 5". If these isn't the intent behind the rules, I'd certainly welcome an errata to make the bolt more of an option ;)
