Chasm of Doom - Unplayable

I think that something HAS to be done.
The books must be corrected AGAIN.
And I think that there should be someone who knows the book very well that has to proof-read them WELL.
And I think of Angantyr.
It's better if Mongoose risks a leech about the books than print again because the books contain errors.

There's people like me, who not come from an English language-based country, that has not the original books, so if they buy the books, they want them perfect, even because they're not cheap.
And don't tell me to go to PA, because if I buy a book is because I don't want a piece of software but something that is touchable.

On a more humourous note: in illustration XV11 (section 289) the soldier on the left has two swords. One is in his hand and yet a sword hilt protrudes from his scabbard as well. Maybe someone dropped theirs and he's handing it back to them. There's all sorts of disorganised chaos on the battlefield :).

Maybe its a short sword? Very useful in a shield wall or other confined space.

Trust me, not with that scabbard it ain't :p.

Hi Frosthawk. The original books can generaly be purchased from sites like ebay cheaply (as in the first 12 or so books). They get steddily more expensive before rising to the really pricey New Order books.

I hope all the problems we are experencing with these books is solved well before then - perhaps the Magnakai books would be a good starting point (does anyone see Book 5 being perfect?)

Mongoose - you have sorted out delivery for most of us, so that's a plus. The cases have been sorted out, and so has the binding. Just need to fix the contents of the binding!

This has been rattling on for a while now, can someone acknowledge the errors, even if it is only to say "Sorry, we will take steps to stop this happening in the future?"

Incidently I was reading The Dark Door Opens (stop all you Legends bashers!) and I noticed it said that Darklord Vashna killed Nyxator - having previously said it was Agarash (which of course it was). Just goes to show that Mongoose aren't the only ones to make errors, they just seem to make more than most :(

I don't know, have you seen the mistakes in the Fighting Fantasy reprints? They keep copying the rules from the first book which means that, because it was one of the unique ones, you get the wrong rules for food, healing, equipment and quite a few other things as well :(.

Personaly I'm very happy that there weren't any problems with book 2. That's a good sign, right?

Hi WritingWolf and Balgin!

Yes, book 2 was wonderful, and even book 3 was quite perfect, so I thought that Mongoose was on the right path, and I bought the first 3 book with extreme enthusiasm, but reading all this stuff that's happening with book 4 quite depresses me.
It's kind of stepping back a looooooooot.

I have to say, I didn't get one of the missing sections Book 3s, so my Book is great, I have yet to find a fault with it (not that I'm looking mind). I did, however, delay ordering it until the fault had been repaired.

Yes, I just got Book 4 a few days back. Mine clearly has the text cut-off pages, but the content missing from the equipment section. There's a clearly an alignment problem with the printing if you look at the crosshairs in the top corners of most pages, as well as the random number table which gets a little chipped off. Not that these printing glitches (and I'm only talking about printing glitches for now) are terribly critical, but this is not good news.

Looks like Mongoose's announcement regarding printing will go a long way to help the mis-alignment of pages and give us nice books that don't fall apart - I am assuming LW will remain hardback of course.

Now the print quality will improve, let us hope the editorial quality improves too. I'm sure it will do and this will, hopefully, be the last book that generates comments. As a buyer and supporter of LW I really want to possess top-notch books that both look good and are flawless. So far they all look good, in fact they look fantastic, but the jewel is flawed - I am confident it will become perfect and we can all sing Mongoose's praises!

May the Force be with you ... till All are One!

Can you link to that? I couldn't find the announcement.

It's also right at the top of the page! :D It's called "New Printing for Mongoose Books" and I'm guessing that is partially to blame for the faulty Lone Wolf books (though LW is not actually mentioned)

Does that mean that they will have better-made LW books for us finally?

I'd like to send back my FftD I got last year that wasn't made too well. Is the proper contact rveal@mongoospublishing.com or something like that?

And of course my selfish ass is wondering if this means us customers here in the US will be receiving our books before those of you across the pond, as it were. Seems silly and inefficient to ship everything back to Mongoose central and then having it sent to Ohio.

I am in Ohio, and I just received Book 4 in perfect condition very quickly. I'm guessing they are shipping directly from their US printer to US customers, probably at the same time as shipping to Mongoose HQ in the UK.
