Character creation question

Just a quick question on character creation using core rule book only.

If I role a combat implant benefit, can I take an intelligence augmentation?

The reason this can up in my game is because the intellegence augmentation doesnt use the word "characteristic" in its description

Intelligence is a characteristic, so yes. The word Characteristic in the Physical Characteristic is used because there are three physical characteristics while Intelligence is the only non-physical characteristic that can be augmented so it has a seperate entry.
