Capital Ship Combat

The High Guard supplement gives combat rules for capital ships with their batteries of hundreds of guns, etc.

Have you used them in a game? How did it go?
 
If you look back in the threads you will find quite a few about capital ship combat, and various issues, which will be of interest, and some suggestions on how to fix some parts of the rules.

Personally, have only tried to run the rules a couple of time, as a test. After applying various mods (see above), the second run gave a reasonably convincing capital ship engagement. With a bit more tweaking, I think a good game can be had.

On a related issue, quite a few of the capital ship designs in Fighting Ships and elsewhere are seriously under armoured. Up rating armour, adding rad shielding and applying the HG mod of only one particle beam in a turret stops the whole game being finished by the first ship to fire its banks of triple particle beam turrets.
