I haven't been on these forums for at least six months. My SST minis have been collecting dust in my closet.

I haven't been playing SST since shortly before the new rules came out. Something about the direction the game was starting to take bugged me...

I have since been active in the gaming community elsewhere. I have been doing a lot of role-playing rather than minis.

How have things been since my half-year leave?

SSTE has been delayed to unknown, the new rules haven't come out (and will - if you ask me - maybe never come out at all).
Getting Miniatures is getting harder and many gamers still don't know anything about the game - though those who know tend to like it.

So nothing new at all.

While he is all negativity there is a small bright spot-

we recently got the Fleet Landing Party models, and more importantly the Skinny Brutes are coming out next month, we have nice pictures too

They shouldn't dish out new models, they should better assure that you can buy the current ones.
What isn't quite the case here in Europe.

Yeah, you haven't missed a lot Rooster. We're still waiting for the "great retooling" of SST.

BUT, there are things you can do while you are waiting. You played RPGs (that's great btw) and enjoyed them.

I finished this project a few weeks ago... (Shhhhh!) :wink:

Check out some of the other threads, Mongoose are getting harried from all sides about it.

I don't care about the new rules - I just want a buy-able system.

Take a look on GW's Gothic and Epic - in terms of support they are dead, but I can buy the models, get them delivered during two weeks and start playing the game if I want to.

SST is an "active" system and I just CAN'T get the models and start playing BECAUSE I CANNOT BUY THEM.
And this is NOT a European retailer problem - not even Mongoose itself gets models from their US producers.
German Traders already need to import their MGP products from the US to get them at all.

That's horrible. The least they could do if they're going to give up on SST is to keep the existing models available.

Things are looking grim indeed...

Just so the Mongoose know that people still want SST and care!

Well at least they don't have SST Basic Boxes (just 2 and getting new ones appears somehow troublesome) and haven't seen any Vorlon Fleet Boxes in the last two months.
There may be some stock but with serious gaps in the lines.

In general it does appears to me that Mongoose doesn't give that much on Europe. Their main income lies in the US - what a wonder as there are no products in Europe.
European Traders already import from the US (what again leads to the imprint of more sales in the US and less in Europe making things even worse).

Somewhere there is a serious problem in logistics (or elsewhere) and it HAS to be solved if any Mongoose Wargame wants to be successful in Europe.

I did. And Russel told me he is still waiting for his order from the US, so I assume he hasn't seen any Vorlon Boxes for the last two months (at least none who were ordered since that).

I know. But it looks like that.
And it IS a serious problem. My efforts in promotion are worthless as long as players have problems getting their hands on the models here.
I WANT SST to be a success because I really like the game, but it's somehow hampering my courage as long as it looks as Mongoose doesn't really care about us here.
