books

Alas, this is a subject of much confusion and very few answers. There are several factors that come into play about why the books have not been published and when they might be.

The simple answer is that it may be a long time or it could be very soon, depending on the business decisions involved. I suggest you check the threads here for more details and if you want to inquire directly, Matthew Sprange often posts to these forums and any private messages can be sent his way.

Thank you for your interest!

Well August, having just re-read both books I can put hope they are out soon! At the moment for forces of darkness have total victory (which makes a nice change) - but I'm eager to see what happens next!

By all means tell Matthew and ask him for an update, good sir. I would love to see them out and available for consumption; I get asked a LOT when the next book's coming and I'd love to be able to give an answer other than 'I have no clue'. :)

Unfortunately due to this news - http://richard4ord.wordpress.com/2011/12/16/well-that-was-good-news/ - it's pretty much certain that the Lencian Trilogy won't be completed... at least not by me. I've now got two novel series on the go, one of them with a major publisher, and I simply don't have time to finish the series for the remuneration the Lone Wolf novels bring in. There's obviously every chance Matt will find someone else to finish the trilogy, and the other two books have already been planned out (and the second one half written).

These are great news for you, Fordy, I'm happy for you, I wish you great success... Even if I feel very sad regarding the Lencian Trilogy.

You mentionned that The Shadow and the Skull is half written, does it mean that you'll probably give your text to a possible new writter appointed by Mongoose so that he can finish the book respecting your plot, instead of finishing it yourself?

That is a sort of solution, but I feel very sad now because I really loved your story in Dragons of Lencia, with Ranghor, Aleka, Kydar, Dymeric et al you had indeed created wonderful characters... Not to mention the epic dimension you gave to the Drakkarim people! It will be different with another author. You brought a great imput to the LW Universe, I hope one day you'll come back.

That's always a possibility.

That's absolutely fantastic, Fordy. So glad to hear it.

I've got several projects in the pipeline as well, a novel out last month and another published by June. That said, I'd still drop everything to return to Magnamund and see these books through to you all. I don't leave things half-finished.

For the Kai!

That's always a possibility.
Then I really wish this possibility will come true one day!

As I found the first book absolutely excellent too. I can't imagine someone else finishing your work, as a book (and a good book like DoL) is something very personal.
I loved to discover Lencia, and all these characters, the mercenaries, the Kai, the Knights of Ilion, the Telchoi... and to really fear the power of Ranghor and the Drakkarim!

I would be very frustrated, as other fans I talked with about the book, if you abandon the writing process (even if I understand you could have good reasons to do it).

I wish you a very good year, Richard... including a come back to the Lencian trilogy.

You are most welcome. If the Power That Be will see fit to green light continuance, I will gladly keep going for you all...

I didn't congratulate August here as I must confess I still didn't take the time to read Glory & Greed (and as a French reader with a limited knowledge of English language, it takes to me more time to read a whole novel in English), even if my friend Zorkann often says that's a great book too!

But what I read of you, August, for the RPG, is great too. What I know the most is The Darklands, as I translated the original D20 System bestiary for the french version and worked with Zorkaan on the geography chapter of the french version and the new completed LWMPG version of this fantastic sourcebook.

As I'll probably read at last Glory & Greed soon, I should be very happy too if the following Rise of the Agarashi books can be edited this year!
