Book X and Supplement X - Comments Wanted!

* a Players guide the the Chartered Space book.
This type of book will help explaining to players and game masters about the Imperium, its history and the cultural flavor of the game, maybe showing a few varied settings from the fringe worlds in the Spinward Marches, to the heart of the empire. Some description of races and the history of the imperium

* World builder's book
as described above

* Trojan Reach book
Just like SM book.

* Fifth Frontier War
From what I understand, the war will erupt soon within SM; and as you have 3+ books about this area, maybe a book about the war would be good. I mean I have a small campaign going and started it in 1104, it would be nice to actually have a book about 5FW coming out.

* Alien Races: Droyne, Vilani, Kkree, Hivers, Minor Races
The last book in this category would describe minor races (and now I mean mostly races that players can actually play - maybe a small chapter about other minor races that eists but is not really made for characters like the virusshi (or what they are called))

All these are really needed as well as a Civilian/Scholar book.

If thinking of a 'what next' that's not OTU, if Mongoose has a fairly cosy licensing relationship with 2000ad - dredd and strontium dog both being available for traveller, maybe the VCs would be a good setting book?

A mix of infantry and ship combat - and the latter with 'traveller sized' four-or-five-man gunships, as well as the internal politics (and with the newer series, galactic politics).

Supplements
Solomani Rim
TECH: How Things Work
Describes in broader terms how various technical items work practically. i.e. Low berths, power need, they seem to last for centuries, how long to freeze, defrost; jump bubble, how to tow other ships/mass restrictions. The idea being that refs will have common reference point and not have to fudge certain basics and result in 800 refs doing 800 identical things the same rather than 800 different IMTU ways.

Books
Solomani
Hiver
K'Kree
Minor Aliens and Humans

Adventures
The original adventures are near untapped. Referring exclusively to GDW LBB Adv.
The LBB books could be done as Doubles and the Double LBB's as triples or quads. So far we have SOTA/Prison Planet.

In addition new adventures needed. This is one area Mongoose has neglected. Only TRIPWIRE (brilliantly conceived/clumsily executed) and Crowded Hours done, another on way. Beltstike was generic and would need work to hammer into 3rd I, Pirates of Drinax is not yet completed.

Reading another post in that forum (http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=49418) i had an idea.

What would you think about a book of religion in the Traveller universe?

What kinda religions there are?

How different governments and dinasties and the Third Empire focus on it?

How to create priests, preachers, bishops, or any religious character?

Mystic and religious equipment (drugs, evangelizing ships, hi-tech stuffs (an unknown technology is easily considered magic or a miracle).

How can old societies consider psionics as miracles or even as pagan magic?

How can religion interfere in some worlds and societies? In world creation, the religion of a world can be as important as the government or law level.

Religion has always inspired a lot of people, but it has also been one of the most powerfull weapons and ways of crowd control. Tons of sci-fi themes consider religion, Asimov's Foundation, Philip K. Dick, some Dark Horse Alien's comics, even the jedi are a sort of religion (as most philosophies for live), why not Traveller?

Dunia wrote about a book that would be nice to have: This link ---> http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=49865 Religion could be one of the chapters therein.

More suggestions...

Illustrated Who's Who of the Third Imperium - essentially a NPC book of the movers and shakers of the Third Imperium

Anomalies and Artifacts that is where it changes my original posting.

A Milieu book (naturally I would want input into any Traveller Now/Modern Traveller) perhaps a good suggestion would be the Long Night or Second Imperium.

More illustrative material in which people get a sense of the future and a sense of wonder...maybe pair up with SF publishers.

Ah, and i would love, maybe not printed but in PDF a document/book with ALL the rules from all suplements re-paged and indexed. To avoid surf from one book to another everytime.

Character creation? All rules and careers from all suplements, and also the robots.

Ship creation? Basic rules with also high guard and vehicles and all.

World creation? Adding dinasties, animals, and so.

Equipment? All from the basic to the CSC and all equipment in other suplements.

And so...

Not printed, as that would be an unhandable monster, but in PDF, as a reference manual.

A Solomani Rim book (Solomani Über Alles!) ok that was bad :P

A conversion from Legend/D100 SRD or the various D20 SRD's to Traveller

One thing that would be great an "Unearthed Arcana" style or optional rules book. Mongoose already introduced new rules systems in their own campaign books. While they were used for specific campaigns, many I see as sufficiently flexible for many settings. These could compiled together and expanded into a book of their own:
Alternate Characteristics and their use (ex. Influence, Charisma, Caste, Territory)
Alternate Technologies expanded (ex. Jump Gates)
Mapping and different UWP (ex. sectors in Strontium Dog, base notations found in Universe of Bablyon 5)
Mutations
Special Techniques
Sorcery

Finally, IF Mongoose is allowed or would like to, they might be able to draw rules from previous iterations of Traveller as options in the new one. :)

This is an interesting idea, though it could be quite a bit of work. Out of interest, what would you think such a PDF, properly indexed and bookmarked, would be worth?

If this was just a rules supplement of all the supplement rules put into one 'book' and reformated, I would say the price of the core book.

For what it is worth I feel that the "Careers" books have now been done. Would like to see the remaining aliens books, including Droyne and Solomani, and the 3I to be fleshed out in other areas, e.g. Deneb, and Reaver's Deep.

Outside the 3I, and unlikely because of the need to get a license, how about the "Farscape" universe or the "Night's Dawn" setting? Some interesting different kit, especially for space travel, but also something that could be accomodated well in the MgT system.

Alien Module 5: Solomani is scheduled for release in March 2012.

And Droyne is being written right now!

Oh, and before anyone asks, K'Kree wil llikely be next, for no other reason than one of the writers came up with a really good idea to make them _cool_ :)

* Trojan Reach book
Just like SM book.

Trojan Reach is pretty much covered in the Aslan supplement.

Egil

One thing that would be Legend...wait for it...dary epical, would be to have 4 sector books, SM, Reft, Dene and Trojan Reach. Then to have a really epic adventure that would take the players across the entire Domain of Deneb.

This campaign could be made over 4 books all in all, one for each sector. That si something that I would put my money in.

I like the idea of SM book, i just thin that there is too much info on basic imperial stuffa nd too little about the individual worlds to be really great. It is very promising, but I prefer the idea that GURPS had in its Behind the Claw book where each world was described in a few sentences, but teh MTU SM book was great in the way that it focused on two per sector, so i thought that maybe a mix of both?

Four legged Vega's to whom it's beneath them to do manual labor while wearing various smelling salts and plants to mask your stink.

This sound interesting. LOL

This is one of those matter of opinion things, I prefer the way that two or threee worlds per sector have a moderately detailed write up, while the rest is left for me to flesh out from the UWP. One sentence write-ups, IMHO, are hardly worth writing, let alone buying.
