Book 5: Agent House Rules?

Anyone have any house rules related to Book 5: Agent they would like to share (especially in regards Trust and Cover levels...)?

Yes... The bounty hunting one in that book is fun. Haven't gotten to the rest.

As for Trust: my interpretation of this is that it applies sector wide and not system or world wide. It seems to be that otherwise, one would have to make notes of this for each world. I couldn't stand this, but to each his own, right? As to why a low-tech society would somehow know your status from a high tech neighbor on the other side of the sector... ick. Now it breaks down.

Perhaps it's on a major trade route basis where the further you are off the beaten path, the less your distant reputation matters... That sounds about right... Now I want to fool around with this. I'll have Trust only apply to those worlds directly on major trade routes and I'll have it be fuzzier for worlds J-1 away. For worlds J-1 or more away from the nearest major route, your Trust must be locally established and maintained. That doesn't sound so bad.

Trust I'm thinking of handling on an agency and inter-agency basis - one's credentials/bona finda's can be carried* (identCard) to establish what is likely to be accomplished with local agencies.

One might have a reputation/be known as well, especially via major trade routes - but I tie this more to Networks. Except on the worlds the Agent was directly operating, they would generally not be known on sight.

* - hehe, this also means they can be forged (Scoundrel) and benefits of Trust 'gained' that way (with suitable repercussions possible )

I'm sure I'll make use of it in my upcoming game based on Dark*Matter/X-com/Stargate source material. The players are agents, so I expect it will come in handy...

I've generated several NPC Agents that are around, or factors elsewhere in my current campaign. No players have made one yet, but no one has died yet either.
