Book 0 Rules. Thank you Mongoose

I gotta hand it to Mongoose, Book 0 freakin rules. The $40 price tag is a barrier for the core book, but Book 0 is EXACTLY what a noob player should have. The book is just enough to get someone's interest wet. You can make a character (granted not with a full breadth of options), know how to function in the world. Granted players may need some help with things like starship combat, but atleast they'll have a baseline knowledge to have others teach them.

Yeah, it's too bad my LGS didn't participate...my buddy picked up his at this other out of the way LGS and we thought it was the perfect book to let someone brand new have a taste.

I would also like to join the clamoring for a Traveller Book 0 in PDF. IMHO, it could only help sales.

I'd love to see it as a free PDF or even a $0.99 paper copy (or whatever is needed to cover basic cost).

I'd love to run a game and having a half-dozen of those would be really a great way to introduce my players to the game.
