Blood of Orlanth

Looks like we're getting a series of adventures. Cool. Get them to me NOW please.

Can you tell us a bit more about the series? Like the cover blurb maybe?

Well, it was started by Aaron Dembowski-Bowden (who left the company) and I think is being finished by someone else though I can't remember who (likely Bryan Steele, Gareth Hanrahan, or Lawrence Whitaker).

There are (were) three adventures planned.

The plot involves a big secret about the god Orlanth that someone uncovers. Delecti (a powerful sorcerer who converted to the EWF ways and survives to the third age as a Necromancer) is involved as well. I think it is written where the party is pro God Learner but I coulod have that backwards (i.e. they are pro EWF). Or perhaps they are just pro getting paid - you know how those adventurer parties can be.

That is all I recall from the tidbits posted over time.

Just checked Amazon:

Blood of Orlanth: Revelation
There is a legend that few Gloranthans will (n)ever know. It tells how during the Godswar, in the land which is now called Dragon Pass, Orlanth was almost slain by one of the vile Chaos Gods that rose from the Void and threatened to extinguish all life in the world. To the Orlanthi, this is a foul lie. Yet to a minor, lone cult of the barbarians, it is a terrible truth and a secret shame - a secret they guard forever. The God Learners have learned a shard of this hidden truth. Arch-sorcerers of the Alliance have mastered a ritual that can use the blood of the wounded Storm God to achieve their own unknowable ends, perhaps even rewriting history and altering the life of Orlanth himself. But the blood must come from this secret myth. Jrustelan agents make their way to Dragon Pass now, seeking to prise the secret legend from the Orlanthi that live there. Delecti the Inquirer, the traitorous sorcerer, is aware of his former brethren's machinations. He employs his own agents, Dragonspeakers and mercenaries allied to the Empire, to watch over the conquered Orlanthi of Dragon Pass and ensure the God Learners do not learn the full truth of this legend.

Doesn't have descriptions for Blood of Orlanth: Insurrection and Blood of Orlanth: Devastation: Glorantha.

From Amazon US:

Blood of Orlanth: Insurrection
The God Learners are entrenched in Dragon Pass. Their agents weave their tendrils of influence through the Orlanthi communities there, sowing seeds of rebellion among the conquered barbarians in order to destabilise and distract the Imperial agents sent to the region. As villages threaten to break into revolt, the Jrustelan sorcerers come ever closer to enacting the ritual that will allow them to violate Orlanth's secret myth. It is down to the EWF warriors and magicians in the area to quell the uprisings in the population by any means necessary. If they are successful, only then can they defeat the God Learners' ambitions before the sorcerers enter the Hero Plane and steal a god's blood.

Blood of Orlanth: Devastation: Glorantha
The God Learner plan moves into its final, most desperate stage. With their rituals broken and their schemes crushed at every turn, the sorcerers of Jrustela plan to magically tear the secrets they need from the souls of the hidden Orlanthi cult. One way or another, war is coming to Dragon Pass - a secret war, a Shadow War - that will play out away from the eyes of mere mortals. The Imperial agents must stop the God Learners' final mystic rites else all the struggle and bloodshed so far will be for naught. In every battle there is a crucial moment: a fulcrum upon which all hope and despair balance. It is in that moment that the fate of each conflict is decided. That moment has come.

Speaking of Dragonewts, I think you should hire this guy to do the illustrations:

Check out the fourth-from-last picture for a beautiful klanth! :)

Very nice. Especially the klanth.

Unfortunately I haven't much to do with the art assignments but those who do frequent these boards secretly so they may see said piccy and be suitably inspired.

They're old GW LIzardmen images. Looks like someone got hold of one of their old resource disks.

Do Klanth's exist outside of Glorantha? or is it just an "in game" term for a the Maquahuitl? Googleing for "Klanth" mostly returns it for SF and Fantasy references, and "Klanth" and "Obsidian" is all Gloranthan references, (Including a conversion of RQ Dragon newts for use in "The Fantasy Trip"...)

See the release schedule now just lists one Blood of Orlanth. Are the three volumes being put into one?

Now that "Blood of Orlanth: Devastation" is announced (with cover layout!), it´s time to ask again:

There were rumours about a three part campaign: "Blood of Orlanth: Revelation", "Blood of Orlanth: Insurrection", and "Blood of Orlanth: Devastation", each 32 pages long.

Now we only have "Blood of Orlanth: Devastation", with 104 pages.

Are the three books combined into one?
Why is the title the same as for the third installment of the series, and not simply "Blood of Orlanth"?

Cheers

Klanth's do seem to be based on the Obsidian Swords used by the Aztecs. I'm unsure how mācuahuitl ended up as Klanth, it does sound pretty Klingon.

Dammit, I understood only Options 1 & 2 were to appear in 'Blood' so that I could leave it for a bit, now my player's PC's (who just happen to be a mixed 'Old Gods Resistance Fighters' group) will just have to sort the whole thing out.
If I can persuade the Family Chancellor to release some of the otherwise allocated funding that is! As I think I am now onto Christmas 2011 it could get sticky
