Mongoose
Hi everyone;
Here in Central Maryland, there is a growing group of us that play BF EVO World at War, Modern Combat and the Apocalypse Z.
This past Wednesday was our first time playing the Modern version.
There were 2 players on each side.
One side was a combined force of fedayeen and Chinese, while the other was American and British.
The US/Brit side had to penetrate a town and take over a large building on the far end of town.
The Chi-Arab, had to defend and take out as many attackers as possible.
We played a 2,000 pt per side game.

We kept our forces to a pretty basic set up

The Chi-MEA had two Chinese Main Battle tanks and 3 or 4 technicals, plus several squads of soliders/Insurgents/Fedayeen.

The US/British force had an M1A2, Hummvee, a Challenger II and Warrior AFV, plus about four squads of infantry.

We played in 28mm with the original BF EVO pre-painted figs and some of my 28mm Fedayeen.

None of us have played any modern combat on the table top before, but we all loved this game and the way it played out.

The table was of urban terrain over most with a more open terrain on the sides.

The Anglo-American force thought they could force their way in with Armor.
They lost all of the AFVs and by closing time were about 3/4s of the way there.
The Chi-Arab force lost one Main Tank and all three pickup trucks, plus loads of fighters.
But they held the main building at closing time.

We play World at War in 15mm, using Centimeters for measuring.

This game was done in inches with 25/28mm.
Our plan is to use 20mm, 1/72 scale plastics to build forces for this came.
Everybody will be aiming to build 2,000 points of an Armor force.

The five of us and each of us will build a platoon representing the following armies.
US Marines
British Army
MEA
German
Russian or Chinese.
Once I figure out how to post pictures here, I'll get them up for all to see.
Good gaming;

I just put some photos to Flickr from Wednesdays game.

Let's see if I can get them here.

This should be the view from the Anglo-American end of the table, looking toward MEAland and the HQ.

Just delete the "?v=0" from the end of each url and it works.

Nice pictures. It's good to see the old models in action. I especially like your terrain setup.

Hey that's great RC;

Many thanks.

I'll try posting some more later.

A bunch of us have the "classic" minis, so this gave us a chance to get them on the table top, along with my Devil Dog Design Insurgents.

The buildings were all built by the store owner, back when the first BF Evo came out.

Good gaming;

Did you guys make the buildings yourself? If so, or if not, can you tell me real quick how you did it? Thanks. :)

And if you like to see some material just for Apocalypse Z, there's a forum for it over at:

Very nice table top. I haven't got that amount of time to put into it, but it looks a great space to have a game on.

question re the fedayen - when there's no save number, what does that mean in the modern combat rules? p97. Does that mean they instantily die if you manage to target them?

Cheers,

mark

Wow, great pics. You guys are certainly busy! Thanks for picking up Apocalypse-Z. If you get a chance, any feedback would be great. It was our first major project and would love to hear ways to improve (unless you think it was simply perfect, at which point I'd recommend putting down the bottle! :wink:
