Behind the Claw

Worth an update...

We have had some delays on some of the maps and deck plans - all resolved now, but we have to plough through a few things to finish them off. However, we are on the downhill stretch and expect to have Behind the Claw ready early December.

Sorry, but once you see this mighty tome, I think you will appreciate the extra effort has been worth it!

Matt,

Delays are always preferable to get a better quality product than rushing it out and having problems.

It will take four months to finish off. But we know you don't have four months so we'll have it for you in one month.

Fully agree. Take your time, release a complete and great product rather than rushing just to get it out faster.

Just curious: that 300,000 dt dreadnought, which faction is it for?

From Behind the Claw:

"Built by the advanced shipyards of Vincennes, the Kehmed dreadnoughts represent the cutting edge of warship design within the spinward sectors of the Third Imperium. Each ship of the class is named after one of the metroplexes on Vincennes and they are a source of pride for many of the inhabitants of the system.

"Like the older Plankwell-class, the Kehmed is a traditional battleship with no troop contingent carried aboard. It is intended for a pure warfighting role, smashing the enemy battle line and moving on. Other ships can land marines or mop up whatever resistance remains; these highly advanced battlewagons are too expensive and too potent to be wasted on peacekeeping or insurgency suppression missions. The swing towards multirole capital ships was always controversial, and it does seem that a return to specialist designs is the way forward."

Great, thanks!

Is it one of many ships in the book, or one of few?

Rather, approx how many ships are there in Behind the Claw, and are there more capital ships or mostly smaller adventure ships, or a bit of both? :)

Many. Beyond counting (well, quite a few...).

We also have many playable alien races. Loads of animals. We have tried to add gaming information at every step on this book (and hope it will form the groundwork for future 'sector' books).

Basically, we are kinda hoping you will all think we have knocked the ball out of the park on this one :)

Doesn’t matter, we’ll buy it - especially after that sales pitch :) (I know I will...)

Tells msprange to shift the decimal place two places to the right.

It is good, maybe not quite that good :)

We have to check the pricing on this one - it would normally be $49.99 like the other Traveller hardbacks, but it is a fair bit larger so we have to talk to the beancounters to see if that needs to change.

Yes, I had my doubts   , but this delay is a good thing, I already know the kickstarter and Black Friday will drain my wallet :P ...

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

You again!?! :P

Release schedule says December now for the PDF.
*sigh*
And I paid for physical copy back in Spring of 2018 as a Kickstarter add-on. Hopefully that price is still good.
Hey Matthew, seriously, if you want a proof-reader before release, shoot me a PDF. I don't have to go back to work until the 12th.

Latest update...

It is basically all done!

We are just waiting for the last of the subsector maps to roll in, and the main book is with Marc and his Inner Circle for final approvals.

Behind the Claw will be with you very soon now...

Working on them. As for final approvals, that has to wait till the subsector maps are done (at least as far as my looking it over goes).

So, one overly pedantic question: Is Dallia in District 268 still atmosphere 8 or is it back to B, which is what it was before somebody with bad eyesight got ahold of a bad PDF of the classic Supplement 3?

Is that what it takes to terraform a planet? A bureaucratic SNAFU? :D

You’ll have to buy it to find out.

Already did. A year and a half ago as an add-on to the Great Rift. Dates have slipped a bit, so I'm hoping it's worth the wait.
