Been away, back now . . . . . .

Wow long time no see!
Welcome back dude, hope you're doing ok now.

Um..... whats changed..... um....

All the old posts have been lost due to some PHP error...

SST:Evo has been delayed until a Gencon unvieling so late Aug/Sep launch...

S&P last month had the evo stat cards for the first wave, but were utterly unreadable due to the tiniest font in the world (I'd suggest looking for one of the two excelent rewrites on this forum somewhere)

Thats it... Theres a new advert with the tag line "Look Into The Future", which I dont think scans particularly well ("Look To The Future" sounds better IMHO)

As for the rules, you can download the Evo rules from the BF:E downloads section.
Major changes include: Only one reaction per turn for most units; Readys no longer carry over to reactions/next turn; No weapon traits; Firezones worked out slightly differently.

We havent actually seen any new models (Tell a lie, if you squint on one of the pics from the BF:E open day you can just about make out a new flying vehicle for either Forth or Skinnies) or gotten any news to be honest, Matt comes on to allay fears every now and again when things get overly negative, but I get the distinct impression that the BF:E problems are taking time away from SST :( (BF:Evo is months behind schedual, and as expected the paintjobs are WELL short of expectations, the newer ones are meant to be better but I dont think many people have seen those as of yet)
Oh there was a big announcement that turned out to be a business partnership with Rebel software, who own 2000AD... basically though it seems to be about using their printing facilities.

Thats everything I remember of the top of my head, we've really been left in the dark but apparantly the build up to launch started two months ago (Other than the wave 1 cards and the advert though we havent seen alot though).

Right theres probably some more reasonable posters giving you the lowdown as I type this, so all thats left is to say once again, its good to see you back and take care of yourself!

Welcome back! I expect things to start happening over the next few months, with new stuff coming out on all fronts from Mongoose. I'm collecting the BFE minis and waiting for the new SST models.

I'm on the mend personally, but my Family haven't been at all well.

Looking after them has taken a LOT of my time.

Looking forward to seeing what they are going to do with SST.

Family illnesses and such, I haven't had time to breath!

I can understand fully, my deepest regards to your health and your family. I take care of my terminal ill wife. When you have to take care of another it consumes you in more than one way. Your whole life focuses on the now and present, with no time for anything else.

Best wishes, and welcome back.

I lurk still - and thought dirving my car into a bush at 5mph was bad...

But I'm considering making tongue in cheak action film esque rules for SST and 'Airsoft Evo' rules... should be fun ;)

Thanks buddy, thats appreciated. I don't know anyone who's had a good year so far!

Sorry to hear that, TOS. As for me, I've had a sis-in-law with breast cancer recently and almost lost my Mom to Addison's Disease (close one, that). I'm not sure if he'd like me telling you guys so I won't mention his name (and don't bother PMing) but another member of the Forums here is going through Chemo and Rad treatment currently, so we are all just a bunch 'o thrills and a bucket of cheers aren't we? I think we all see part of our hobby as a bit of therapy in that it allows us something to focus on that sets the real world and its issues aside for a bit. It's good to get you back Lieutenant Rasczak, and I hope that there are better days ahead for those that need a few of them. :)

Got good look at them last thursday when I was on holiday on Finland. Apart from faces paint job was actually IMO more than good. Heck I don't think I could do that good camoflage on such small models...

Apart from less skin on SST front(LAMI, little bit on cap trooppers and marauders, SICON officer...That's it) if they can improve that they have actually good prepainted range in their hand.

So it's not all that bad.

I did say the new ones were better (Alot better), but they're both still well short of the original claims, and returning players should probably be informed of that before they look at the pictures and get disheartend.
Plus I dont think anyones seen the wave 3 figs in person outside of a few 'goosers, so its a bit difficult for anyone here to draw any conclusions on overal quality as of yet surely?

I think the computerised clothing is rather good on them personally, its nothing like the 100% accurate camouflage claim, but its neat and on the right areas of the model, its the rest ofthe job that falls short.
Tneva I was wondering, in person do the paints blend together a lil better? On the pictures you can easily see which parts are the base layer and which are the details added by hand which I think raws a bit of attention to the problems when they do occur on a fig, is it just the size of the photos?

I think the size of the photos is a big part of the problem. The fact that the BF Evo minis are 25mm scale or thereabouts contributes even further. The wave 1 stuff was decent (and I agree with you on the camo patterns being very good, with the other detail work lacking), but Wave 2 is certianly much better. if I get the chance I'll take some comparison shots of faces from wave 1 and 2 minis.

Well I'm wrong person to answer that as I don't tend to notice such things :D However the paint job(apart from skin) was definetly better looking in person than in the photos which have habit of making paint jobs look worser than they are(which is why I don't like taking pictures of my models anymore :D).

I will be ABSOLUTELY honest, I am NOT fussed by BFE at all. I've seen the mini's in the flesh and they are really poor (floppy barrels and all).

I know its a REAL shock to everybody who called me a fanboy, but its true!
