Beast from the east

The government =D

edit: Ack, after looking at the Abram, Challenger, and Type-99- Mongoose seems to have done a rather bad job on the tank. Looks nearly nothing like the pictures!

Oh yes, and for the record, he didn't Bring me to this shin-dig. I'm not some poor sap who hangs on. He pointed me here, I saw my friend was having some problems, and, being a good friend, without even letting him know until too late, gave him some support.

If you want to support your friend fair enough but the minute you resort to just slagging someone off for their nationality you lose any semblance of credability I'm afraid. Frankly you havent helped your friend at all youve just made it look like he's trying to start a flame war (which I dont think he was, arguments can get a bit heated but it was settling down at the point you jumped in)

Now play nice, all three of you.

Oh as for the mini in the game, I dunno I dont think the T-99 is bad, sure its not PERFECT but when alls said and done there are not as many readily avaialble images/videos for reference (also I suspect the modellers probably went and had a look at some real M1A2 and Challengers, something they couldnt exactly do for a Chinese tank ;))

Darn Brits, always playing the diplomacy game.. *shakes his fist*

I'm not so sure they actually saw a real M1A2, Locutus. The scaling is wrong on the Abrams in a few key places.

Well, the M1A2 looks like a M1A2. The Challenger looks like a Challenger. The T-99 looks like a flattened tank. There are plenty of pictures for it, grr.. maybe I should have been here earlier. Oh well, hopefully the MEA tanks don’t look all jacked up.

Looks pretty close to me ;) (back of the turrets not quite right but its near enough (also whose to say it wont be modified in the next few years to when BF Evo is actually set...)

And As I look, now that I've calmed down and realized we're not talking the real tank but the miniature, AT the miniature... There's still a visible view where the join lines are on the BFE miniature.

I will now direct your attention to the second additional display image, where the tank is positioned with its turret facing directly forward. If you look very closely, on the viewer's left side, you can see light reflected off the top half of the applique armor bricks. More so, you can see a visible seam where the plates are mounted on the side of the turret as well.

As for comments of the Type 99 and Type 98 being upgraded T-72's, the new turret layout defines otherwise. Additionally, if I am not mistaken, you will note that the Type 98 and 99 have an additional roadwheel, significant of their longer chassis base.

Now, I'll admit, I came in swinging hard. I'm a little used to having to deal with supremacists who don't listen to reason and have to be put firmly into the realization. For that, I apologize. I felt my point needed to be made quite clearly, and as my signature shows, I'll hit hard to deliver the point efficiently.

Thankyou.

As far as I know, Rouge, there's only two pictures of the tank they're giving the MEA, the Zolfaghar 3.

Both of them are of the tank on a trailer...

For the record Hiro, Im Canadian, I just live in England ;)

@Sauragnon, I think you'll find that these forums tend to be quite friendly places and most people here are more than willing to discuss things rationally. I don't think theres anyone here who would just blindly rampage about American supremacy (I happen to think the M1A2 IS still the best tank out there with the possible exception of the Leapard 2 but thats not to say everything US is better, technologically speaking they DO tend to have an advantage but given how much money theyve chucked into their defence spending I should bloody well hope so :P).

Now be honest, are you two from China and filled with national pride (fair enough if so) or are you just big fans of Chinese tanks? (also fair enough if so). Just curious as I think it would be quite cool to know mongoose was reaching that wide a global audience (most people on here as Im sure youve noticed tend to be from the US or the UK)

ps. Where have you seen pics of the MEA tank? Would like a peek at that myself :P

*shrugs* One might argue that you, yourself, have become something you fight against. Just lighten up, okay? We're not a serious military discussion sight... If I wanted to deal with those types, I could go to either the Sinodefense forum or to Militaryphotos.net.

That Abram looks nice… must collect USMC as well now. And the MEA tanks looks kind of like an Abram too…

Get your ass shot off enough and you tend to mimic what works. ;)

*tries..to..keep..comment...in...* :D ;)

And I did a search in google images for it. I don't get alot of info out of Iran (I doubt many people do unless they actually have contacts in Iran), but those pictures game from a site based out of France, and they're from a Military parade that happens every year.

Sauragnon is a Canadian like you. Me? I’m a modern military fan, just dislike the perception that anything non-western is outright inferior. Mongoose isn’t reaching a global audience that I know of, because like most people here- I too live in the West. (I don’t have anything against that either.)

It seems that newly industrializing states have been basing their tank designs off western counterparts, in the Chinese case it goes towards the European side. The Iranians seems to be copying their arch-foes; the Americans.
