Battlefield Evolution in 15mm with penny bases?

Has anyone tried it? I have a whole hoard of modern/scifi and WWII 15mm minis that I'm getting ready to base and paint, however I'm wondering if the game can handle this scale. Are there any modifications that should be made? Like going from inches to cm? Or should I play the game is it is?

Just curious.

I've never used pennies but I've seen them used by many FOW players(15mm WWII minis).
I personally use the metal punchouts from electrical boxes (b/c I used to be an apprentice electrician and my job was to clean up the mess left over from the master electricians working. You'd never guess how many of these I have after a year and a half of working before my layoff. They're penny sized.) I've also seen smaller washers used as bases for 15mm minis.

Works fine - scale looks/feels better IMO

Pennies are great - nice stable base

and there is a rake of 15mm AFVs and other vehicles available

I also use the 1/100 Airfix minikits (rebranded Doyushu) for air assets - all superbly pre-painted and easy to assemble

and there are the newer Axis and Allies Miniature ranges if you don't paint

so many choices

15mm - the way to go

it looks and plays fine. Instead of playing in inches I scale down to centimeters, and then GW does some ready made fire zone templates - the large and small blast markers. Okay, they're slightly out of scale but they 'Feel' right.

I've managed to pick up some awesome scenery on ebay for it too.

indeed pennys are perfect

just buy a bag of 100 for a £1 lol available at all good shops, post offices and banks :D

apparently there be going out of circulation as well soon..

just keep in mind its against the law to deface the queens head side of the coin lol... im sure thats a old wives tale though.

All my playtesting for Pacific War was done with 20mm minis on good old German Pfennige!
(mostly the same as a Penny!)

Evolution works like a charm with any scale as long as the infantry minis are individully based. In fact the ranges (as said above) look even better in scales up to 15mm.
For 6mm I would switch to cm instead of inches.

The only problem that may come up is with group based infantry like FoW or EPIC.
And even that is adressed in length with many examples in my upcoming Gear Krieg book.http://www.agisn.de/html/gear_krieg.html

I tried it ONCE; however, my father saw what I was trying to do and went of a patriotic rant about how I was "defacing the currency."

Now I use these thin, plastic gaming tokens I pick up at the FLGS.

It might well have been the case in the past, but definitely isn't now (in the UK at least - other countrys' legal systems may vary :D )
