Hello,

I heard there is work on this project going on.

What is the progress n this?

I think this is a excellent alternate history and Gear Krieg should get a reboot.

Hi tetsuo,
World at War: Gear Krieg is an A.D.Publishing book and will be the comprehensive guide for using all of Gear Krieg’s superscience walker and vehicles for the British, German, Soviet and US forces that are in miniature production by Dream Pod 9 in games of Battlefield Evolution: World at War.

You can find regular updates about the game development here:
http://www.agisn.de/html/gear_krieg.html

World at War: Gear Krieg is meant as a supplement to the core Battlefield Evolution: World at War rulebook and A.D.Publishing’s Vehicle Compendiums. With this book you can add a healthy dose of pulp gaming to your WW II gaming experience.

So what will be in the book?

Right now the draft ToC looks like this:

An introduction to the incredible rich and detailed Gear Krieg Universe. It will be only a small glimpse in this wonderful and fascinating game world. I can not recommend the Gear Krieg books of DP 9 enough. So this chapter will only be an appetiser.
New or modified traits – all the traits (Multiple Movement Systems, Glider capable and Airdroppable Gears and much more), you need to play with the units of this book.
Modified Advanced Rules – for sake of complicity and straight from the free World at War: Add On supplement.
The beef of the book – all the unit descriptions, pictures and stats for all the Gear Krieg models that are produced by Dream Pod 9. To get an idea was vehicles these are, check the DP 9 website.
Combined Armoured Fighting Vehicle Forces – is a generic army list that enables you to field an AFV Force in World at War: Gear Krieg.
In Service Table – modified “In Service” dates for real life units to field them in Gear Krieg.
Rules to use multi-based infantry (as in Flames of War) in Battlefield Evolution.
Modified “In Service” table for the alternate Gear Krieg timeline.
Depending on the success of this book a lot more is possible. Everyone who knows the Gear Krieg universe will already know that the German E-Series tanks, Soviet superheavy tanks, Rocket and Helitroops, Zombies and much, much more are covered in the Gear Krieg books of Dream Pod 9.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask... :D

Great stuff!!!!

Will there be followup books to describe the events of this alternate ww2 more?

Will there be more info on the fronts?

I am quite interested in the Pacific and eastern fronts. And have a particular interest in the war in China(Second Sino Japanese war 1937-1945).

I have an idea that the Chinese Nationalist forces(KMT) by 1942 have a few gears and tanks in their arsenal(mainly US and Soviet models, yes the Soviets were the biggest supplier of arms to hte KMT from 1937-1941 historicaly).

However the Chinese KMT in the Gear krieg timeline manage to bog down the Japanese by numbers, terrain and the wide employment of bazookas(many copied and manufactured in China), anti tank guns etc.

The Chinese also use some suicide squads. Guys strapped with explosives who try to destroy tanks or gears.

Follow up books depend a lot on the success of the initial book.
I have already statted out some more vehicles (like DP9s "Fighting Vehicles of the Modern World"). Since DP9 is planning to bring out the Shiki walkers the pacific Front is finally an option. By sheer coincidence I have just ordered around 150 Japanese and USMC 15mm minis...

BTW: The forces of the Second Sino Japanese war 1937-1945 will be fully covered in A.D.Publishings Chinese Army Compendium, scheduled for May or June 2009. The book will cover all the Chinese forces involved:
1937 – 1938 Nanking National Revolutionary Army
1937 – 1941 National Revolutionary Army
1942 – 1943 National Revolutionary Army
1944 – 1945 Late War Chinese US equipped X and Y-Forces
1937 – 1945 Chinese Red Army Guerrilla Forces

Very interesting! So far not covered by DP9, so I would have to talk to them if I can produce stuff like that. At the moment I have the license to bring out unit stats for the established Gear Krieg background. And the Second Sino Japanese war is not covered in detail in GK!
