Yep, that went well last night...

No, not really. I get there an hour and 17 minutes late and find that there's just one of the employees and his buddy are all that's there.

What's in stock as of last night

3 Boxes of EFTF Infantry
1 Challanger Tank

3 Boxes of PLA Infantry
1 Type 90 Tank

3 M1A2 Abrams Tanks

Yeah, so hopefully sometime soon there'll be more... but last night was also SST, so I ended up hauling stuff around for little to nothing.

It certainly takes time to get a new game played.

I think the best demo might actually to just come into the store with a friend on a day that a lot of people are playing miniature games, plunk down your armies and have fun playing. Then make sure to talk to others and introduce them to the game.

also helps to arrive early and get stuff set up ready to go, and spend a few days befor hand spreading the word, never an easy thing to do, but the store should have promoted it for you guys in my mind, maybe were lucky though here.

Well no kidding, Turtle.... I never thought of that before

Now now, Hiro, be nice. I'm sure Turtle was just trying to be helpful. Actually I agreee its common sense but I'm constantly amazed by gaming groups and display teams from compaines who seem to have no idea how to run an effective demo. For some the idea of actually talking to punters escapes them completely!

DM are you free saturday afternoon, if so can you maybe evan some club memebers you have come down to traveling man in bristol (bottom of park street) as me and LBH are doing some BF-evo demos in the afternoon.

1, be good to have a game against you and get punters interested and 2 be nice to meet you.

Yeah yeah...I'm just grumpy because I was looking forward to demoing again. Eagle and Empire does a pretty good job promoting demos and other games...

Don't worry Evil, from what I heard at Trav Man on Firday, there will be plenty of peeps there.

Make sure you bring your armies and your scenery

Hiro, thanks for the effort even if it was over an hour late.

I didn't pimp the demo earlier than the day of because...well...because my real job kept me from even thinking about the store. Hardest day in 2 years there. Doug (E&E Owner) didn't get the demo set together until a few days before since we didn't have stock in until then.

I couldn't make it due to my "real job" getting in my way. I'll try to make it next time. Since I'm normally the one that schedules the demos and games that nobody else will, is there a better time to do this? I started with Friday nights because that's what works out best for me and as weeknights go people normally will show up for demos.

I am playing Battlefield: Evo on Thursday night this week btw. If anyone is interested, show up and let's all have a good time. It's a fun game.

Turtle, Hirmoon has a lot of experience demoing Mongoose games. This was not his first time. If you've thought about it, he's probably done it. I respect his abilities and he interacts well with "the public". He does not use a newspaper during demos at least.

Heck, remember that Young Lions game where the kid snapped the ruler?

I think the look on my face was 'Run, little boy...run'.

To clarify, the kid broke a ruler which then cut one of my MI in half at the waist.

The rulers (provided to gamers for free use during games, as is terrain) are deadly at E&E.

That kid breaking a ruler and the shrapnel slicing a miniature was so unusual that it probably saved him from an involuntary beatdown by Hiromoon.

Good thing too because that kid spends more than myself and Hiromoon combined in that store. I'm not kidding.

I may be wrong but I saw Hiromoon's facial expressions go from anger to curiosity to...well...acceptance of the situation. My suspicion is he learned a lot that evening.

When running demos you have to be forgiving because you're dealing with at least one of the following type of player during each demo:
1. Interested
2. Confused
3. Scared
4. Socially Immature (know it alls, uncontrollables, simpletons, etc)

And of course as the person running the demo you can't beat them or even critize them much. Although I have had to stop a player from cheating during a demo I've run in the past. Yes, you read that right...sigh...

Seriously, the rulers at E&E are now solid wood not the bendable, breakable plastic ones that used to be provided. A customer donated them, btw. A good customer who likes SST I might add.

I swear to you I was livid, Elvis... And yeah, your summary of my mood is pretty much dead on....

I know he didn't mean to do it...

The curiosity part was.. "Hey, this is a clean break...and look, the butt plate's still on"
