Battle Report Centauri V Dilgar Space Superiority (Part one)

Mongoose
Well we finally got into the next turn of our campaign last night (Stupid real life stopping me gaming! )

The game was a 5 point raid, terrain proved to be a single asteroid field in the middle of the map.

The Centauri fleet consisted of Sulust, Magnus, Vorchan, Demos, Morgath, Kutaix2, Haven x2 razik Wing x2 and a Rutarian wing.

The Dilgar deployed Targrath x2, Ochlavita x2, Ochlavita Ki, Garasoch (with 4 torpedo fighters), Jashakar torpedo frigate and JAshakar scout.

HAving the scout allowed me to force the Centauri to set up first which they did with the Vorchan, Demos and two Havens to the 'South' of the Asteroids and the rest to the north. The Dilgar set up all to the south with the Garasoch in the north then the first Targath, then a Pentacon of the OChlavitas, the torpedo frigate and the other Targrath, behind the line was the scout.

Turn one saw both sides close, with the carrier sneaking around the side of the Asteroid field and the Havens and Demos, Vorchan charging in to bring their Ion Cannons to range (and dodge the bolters) the HAvens however had to come into bolter range.

The Dilgar had the initiative and I opted to fire the Pentacon...
The result was one dead Vorchan and a HAven in Floating bomb mode.
The rest of the firing killed the other Haven and damaged the unsqudroned Targrath taking out it's rear weapons.

Next turn movement proved quite constrained with the floating haven bomb creating somethign of a no go area.
This was not helped by my torpedo frigate trying to dodge through the asteroids (leving the squadron) and smacking straight into one leaving it tumbling out of the far side as another floating bomb.

The rest of the ships closed exchanging fire, the Altarian took a few hits, the Demos exploded inflicting rather more and killing the Rutarian wing, while the damaged Targrath was crippled and skeleton crewed and the Ochlavita Ki was blown to bits by matter cannons from a Kutai.

The Sullust took some hits but was pretty much unharmed, the Garasoch took several criticals and lost it's carrier trait! Meanwhile Dilgar fighters died in large numbers to the massed Centauri fighter wings.

We had to leave it there as it was 11.30!

I'm reasonably impressed by the Targrath so far, but still think the OChlavita needs a few more AD to be a truly viable skirmish ship, it mounts fewer bolters than the frigate does for heavens sakes!
