I reckon 2 War with a maximum of 12 ships would work quite well.

I mustv admit it was the only minor thing I would have changed:

2 points War (with a max limit on ships that could be taken)

I'd have probably taken Shadows then - 1 Youngster and 4 Scouts

Sadly the Shadows are not really viable in the doubles torunament either - 5 skirmish :roll: so two Scouts or a Stalker - and 4 fighters (great, well thats a skirmish point wasted)

Setting it at raid PL would be the only way to make Vorlons usable (for their whole fleet list in any case).

Strangely no restrictions on buying up PLs, but when it comes to buying down you're boned, as you can't skip those gaps in your fleet list!

A Destroyer and a Transport is not totally unviable - better than the Shadows lack of choice

Transports are at skirmish, destroyers at battle - you can't go from a battle/war PL FAP allowance to skirmish without losing at least one FAP in raid - an FAP you can't do anything with, as you have no ship in the Raid PL.

Shadows have the same issue, just at the skirmish PL - which is a bit of a non-issue really, as it only effects them if they need to take fighters - which they get on their ships for free (unlike vorlons).

Not complaining at all - though the fact that they're crap makes it even more of a non-issue for them as they have no need whatsoever to buy below raid.

Sorry i think we are talking cross purposes!

I meant the format for the forthcoming doubles - ie 5 pt skirmish was bad for Shadows - there was apparently going to be a new Vorlon Raid ship but that is less likely now i suppose

Vorlons get fighters - Shadows don't they get targets fro other fighters

At 5 Skirmish I'd just take 2 scouts. Forget the fighters, they are just free VPs for the opponent.

Vorlon-wise it'd have to be 5 trainsports. The destroyer is not that tough at all when you consider how much firepower some races can squeeze out of their skirmish ships, and multiply it by 5.

Plus, all it takes is one weapon crit and your destroyer is well on the way towards useless.
