Hello! I would like to make you a question about hsunchen. The bat ones are the pujaleg, aren't they?

When they trasnform into bats, which is their size? smaller bats or larger ones like those of monsters II? Thanks!

I believe that is one name for them. There are several varieties of bat-hsunchen. There's an excellent article on the hsunchen folks written by Ttrotksy on the Gloranthan website (i cannot give a link as I am behind a firewall).

I think they turn into the monstrous bats. Some branches of the hsunchen such as the Elk and Moose people change size. Others, such as the telmori and the gopher people, do not.

The Article on the Gloranthan Website is by Greg & Ttrotsky with assistance by Stephen Martin and some chap called Jeff Kyer
It describes the Pujaleg as pygmies, one of the 10 "Great Hsunchen Tribes" of Genertela, and says different clans are related to different species of bat

Ttrosky also has information on his website here - At a quick glance it looks like much the same information, with maybe a couple of extra minor tribes

Martin Crim has some Hsunchen cults including the bat-cult of Chropt.

...and a google search for Pujaleg will lead you to a scenario in french (Loin de Mostal) in which one appears...

Gopher people (Gord-un) are also described as pygmies ...

For some reason I find it easier to imagine a Hsunchen growing significantly larger when it takes on animal form (and I guess that some - like the Hogari Mammoth people would have to!) than becoming significantly smaller (the Gopher and bat people are described as pygmies, and the Yak and Mammoth people as Bulky, so there are probably limits...) - I'd generally assume that a Hsunchen in "beast form" is (very) approximately "man sized" without any statement to the contrary

Ttrotsky did the writing. I just wrote it up in good form and added a bunch of Greggly notes and corrections.

eeeeeyyeesss.... but....

I do think that some do change but some do not. I didn't have access to the file or I'd have noted the pygmies. For all we know, they become smaller when they shift. IMG, they're monstrous bats - I like them that way* - but the raccoon folk turn into small raccoons.

Like the hsunchen attitudes towards their dual nature - there is no hard and fast rule. Some are beasts who can turn to humans, others are humans who turn into beasts. Some are both. And some are neither. Some think they are two different peoples who turn into each other's forms. It varies.

*I really have to dig up those notes for the Jemari essence-demon bats, hunters of the impure and convert them to MRQ. They would fit in well with the Atroxi Church and its attitudes.
