Hi everybody

Ok guys, I have a little doubt with the spell "Bands of X", from Spellbook.

It can be used with the Undead Rune, so that "Chains of
vertebrae and teeth" surround the target.
In the spell description is listed

"Target loses one Hit Point from arm and leg locations each
round and half damage inflicted is given back to caster of spell."

I don't understand completely that last part, because I find two possible meanings:

a) The caster also suffer half the damage inflicted to the target.
b) The caster is healed half the damage inflicted to the target.

Sorry about my language understanding... :-)))

How exactly does this work? E.g. target takes 1 damage to each limb so presumably 1/2 of 1 equals 1. Does the healing go the same location or does it go where ever the caster desires? Is this damage stopped by armour. One of the Bands of X spells claims the damage is unpreventable but this one doesn't so I am assuming armour stops it.

I'm guessing that the way to do it is to 1/2 the total amount of damage and then apply it as healing where-ever you like. When exactly do you do this? I guess I would rule that it happens at the end of each round.

What does Bondage STR 18 mean? How do you break the bondage? If you break the bondage does the spell end? How does this work with chains of water if you use them to drown the target?

The spell is ranged but not concentration. Once the spell is cast does this mean that the caster has to remain in range for the spell to keep working?

Obviously I can make house rules for all these questions but it would be nice to know how they are supposed to be answered.

I'm guessing that scorpion men and spiders really hate this spell....

Ok. Option b)

But then, in which locations is the caster healed?
