Does anyone remember how the bad weather rules apply to aircraft carrier operations? I don't have the rules with me.

Well the -1 applies to ships also
also -1 to all command checks
surfaced subs can only fire torps
no attacks at extreme range
ships at long range must be spotted etc
apart from that ........

And none of those rules effect or come into play with aircraft...

That idea sounds logical but as you don't assign targets to aircraft until you actually make their attack rolls in the attack phase it is sadly not supported by the rules.
Infact there are no rules in VaS for aircraft having to spot their targets maybe mistaking the same ship for several different ships (Japanese dive bombers attacked the Yorktown multiple times at the Battle of Midway believeing it to be at least two different targets...).

True in unsupported, however I meant not actually launch bombers or torpedo bombers until you have acquired at least one target that you would need them for (unless playing a scenario where you know they are there)

Thats still not covered in the rules. There are no spotting restrictions for launching aircraft in any situations.
