Babylon 5 Board Game

Mongoose
How about a board game that combines the politicking and wars between the races at a strategic level. I for one enjoyed the old Component Game System, but it lacked the depth I would want from a B5 game and using the card component often ruined the fun. Now I'm not talking about complicated battle resolution. I'm thinking something more like A Game of Thrones from Fantasy Flight. Something that reflects trade and intrigue as well as war. Preferably with the Shadows, Vorlons and/or the ISA as more abstract forces.

Heh, I love the CCG, but seeing as it's been dead for years and Mongoose hasn't made any move to pick it up...

Besides, the old CCG had it's problems. If it were to come back I'd rather it just be a modular card game rather than collectable. I could give you a page long list of fixes that could make it more playable.

A board game seems more geared toward Mongoose's style anyway. And there's something satisfying about watching your fleet cross into enemy territory and destroy all opposition.

Play Twilight Imperium, but pretend your ships are little Sharlins and Omegas ;)

From what I've read it has a problem or two relating to control over the central planet. And I wonder if it really has the B5 "feel" to it.

You can always house rule any problems.
We normally play with 5 public objective cards revealed at the start, and choosing Imperial only gives 1 VP instead of 2. ;)

You can always speak like Londo, refer to your enemies as "pesky" and your friends as "associates"

Heh, or just use FA models I guess. :P Maybe if I find myself with too much time after my Narn fleet is painted I'll sit down and outline the B5 board game I have in mind. :)
