Mongoose
will there be an update for the b5 rules in the new noble armada system? i know the universe is different but it would be interesting for us hardcore fans of 2nd ed.

There won't be an official one. But there is an adaptation of the crit system: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=47790

As Greg says nothing officially

There is a draft I did for the Centauri fleet here: Quick and dirty conversion - really just changing relevant traits to NA ones and giving the rules for B5 Style weapons and equipment.

be pleased to hear your thoughts :)

too bad that they will not support older games when they made a ton of money selling them. thanks for the input guys but i have a hard time justifying even small rules changes in my gaming group, when their not official that is.

Well they don't have a licence so they are not allowed to do a B5 supplement - we don't have that constraint.

As DaBoss has stated - they are completely unable to do anything official for the B5 game as that licence was taken away from them. I think they'd like to support the B5 game but the licence has been put firmly out of reach now. That's one of the problems with producing a modern licenced game - if you fail, the licence will go to someone else and if you succeed, when it's renewed you have to pay twice as much. It's a racket, but the licence holders are out to make as much money as possible out of it.

AFAIK the license wasn't "taken away" and it didn't go up in price. The game simply wasn't making enough profit to justify the price tag of the license. So Mongoose did not renew it - they are a company after all, and can't be expected to sell a game at a loss!

both reasons make sense, i guess im just used to companies having their own products with no need for outside license dealings. too bad though...
