New Kind of Hybrid Star Discovered

Basically, imagine if a red supergiant happened to swallow up a neutron star, which sinks to its core. Thorne-Zytkow objects (TZOs) likely form when a red supergiant gobbles up a nearby neutron star, which sinks down into the giant's core. TZOs look like ordinary red supergiants like Betelgeuse, but differ in their chemical fingerprints - rich in rubidium, molybdenum and lithium.

That sounds pretty cool! Too bad we can't actually send ships out to study these things in closer detail. I bet there are hundreds or thousands of additional cool things out there in the universe just waiting to be discovered.
