Huh.. if you reverse the original idea what if its another inhabited system endangered by the Sol system so maybe extended bad weather being what is experienced on Earth, but on the other they make an effort to save themselves by travelling into the Sol system and initially their arrival isn't noticed after all the near miss has made the detection systems a little unreliable.
So assuming they depend on a different environment to survive which world would you think might be hospitable to them or where if they head for Earth?
Which species is the most likely to survive such a trip if you had to use hard science fiction as a guide?
Human-like enough to pass initial appearances or something else and given their need to survive would they be very intelligent AND hostile or what?
And the reaction when discovered?
