Art: Type T

Cosmic Mongoose
Well since I am doing a classic Ship Binge Might as well get this one out of the way.

Did Several versions, With Bug Eyes and turrets, no bug Eyes, with Turrets and a completely clean hull.

Added some maneuver thrusters, and other bits, and scrounged up an old Imperial banner and tacked it to the hull.

well since i am on a Traveller classics Binge...I thought I'd give the Type T a go.

I positioned al of the turrets so they can fire forward past the "Bug Eyes" allowing the ship to bring it's full firepower onto a target it is pursuing. Yes, I now the rules say you can do it anyway...but call me obsessive.

The bug eyes/control capsules are a major break in the lines of the ship, but I can live with it.

I added a few reaction thruster nodes, and a radome/laser comm dome to the dorsal spine, the docking collar is underneath, it's there just hidden.

And for giggles and to show off the lines of the hull I stripped off the bug eyes...once saw how it looked....I had to do a clean version with no exposed turrets. with its slender shape, lovely wasp waist and lots of horsepower, it would be blazing fast in atmosphere, I doubt many aero fighters could match its speed,

Defnitely prefer this without the "bug eyes" and turrets, it looks like a dagger gliding through space without them. Sleek and nasty! :)

Most definitely. I may play around and see if I can make the bug Eyes less disruptive to the flow of the ship...but I am definitely keeping the slick version around for future use :D

I also found a darker paint job that is much more intimidating than the white high visibility scheme.

I like the bulging eyes. For me, they create the impression that there were functional requirements involved in the design which had to be balanced against streamlining (or sleek looks in reality). They make the Type T stand out amongst other very pointy ships. Not to say the design without them looks bad, but the design with them has more character in my opinion.

looking at the deck plans of the Type T those bulges are part of the bridge, they bulge out to make room for crew sation in the very narrow hull of the ship. Practially speaking the pilots would have a pretty wide view of the surrounding area when flying in atmosphere. It would produce a to of drag at llower speeds, but by some quirk of nature once it's supesonic the long pointy nose would defelect airflow away from the bulges and reduce the drag greatly...I am pretty sure that wasn't a consideration when it was created just an odd purely chance quirk.

I think wat I will end up doing is Usig the version without the bulges as another ship entirely, A fast Pursuit/Patrol ship or something.

the one with no visable weapons iss definately a canidate for a Fast trasnport/Courier/Diplomatic transport, maybe even a cvilian version fitted out as a fast yacht. It would have a distinct advantage since at long range it would show up on sensors as a patrol ship which might discourage casual attack. If you drop the shuttle bay and G-carrier bay you end up with some useful cargo space as well...not much but enough for carrying very high value cargoes.

I like them. Keep up the good work!

I kinda prefer the with-bulge version, partly 'cuz it's classic and partly it makes sense as being room for crew.

Make those bulges more “Sears Haack”y. Reasonable compromise.

Lts see how that works..elongated and flattened the bulges a bit and I got this. You may also notice after that last discussion on area rule I gave this one a blended hull desing and a nice pinched waist. While it isnt an atospheric craft if this puppy has to go down into atmo after somethig it will be fast..

Interesting... I think I’m going to have to stew over that change for a bit...

Maybe the bulges should be less flattened? Or is more better for deck plan purposes?

Take your time.....when you feel comfortable fall in love with it and declare me the greatest artist of all time...no pressure....

They are a bit too thin..I need to fix that. had to look up the ships dimensions
