Are fighters worth it?

It "could" use a little more damage/crew, but overall, It's a pretty good ship, I think the ISA players have it too good, they need to try outmaneuvreing an enemy with a narn Fleet!

I think its not useless but too high priced - like the Liati - they are good ships but at Battle level................

the Liati is another ship that is useless now but will be a very good ship in 2e

I wouldn't call a game involving a WS Gunship, a good benchmark! It is a useless heap of junk.

I said that I played Shadows against him, I never said anything about how good or bad the Whitestar Gunship was...as a matter of fact I hit that thing so hard that it was just a burned out hulk. I was talking about the fighters :). They were a problem when it was over and done with.

Right then, no threadjacking my fighter thread with discussions of which ships are junk or not. If there will be any threadjacking going on here, it will be Pauly_D telling us about 2e.

Spill it, pal. I got money waiting for this.

The problem with fighters is people all have a variation on how good they should be, my self I reckon they should faster zooming around the battlefield, dealing annoying crits to weapons & engines plus various other sticky out bits on ships but unable to do a lot dam. Should be hard to kill but others have a different role they want fighters to do.

of course by that stage, the game should end anyway, Fighters are Auxilliary craft, while games are about ships, if no ships remain on the table the game is over, is it not? to be honest a couple of people recently have spoken of fights with just fighters?

Even though the WhiteStar Fighters can open their own jump points and can be their own ships, So even if auxiliary craft can do things that ships can do, when they are left alone on the table then the game is over?
So I won!
Excellent....

They have the AJP trait, so they don't suffer the ill effects that ships without AJP suffer when they come through a JP.

Doesn't mean they have jump engines

Yep, no hyperspace tomfoolery. That's reserved for Shadow fighters. Although they do not use jump points which is a relief.

One question about 2e Pauly, is it in cm or inches?

LBH
(Apologies for the in joke)

I always wondered how you guys like playing with the American system. I guess 40K is the same way...

Well, for the record, though I prefer the metric system in my science, math and engineering classes... it's just easier for me to identify ranges if it is the American system.

I'm fluent in metric, imperial and have a little knowledge of American 'imperial' (some things are different again)

I phoned Low Roller for advice on a minis storage case, describing the dimensions in inches. My Mother who was in the background was shocked i used imperial not metirc. Some things I just grasp better in imperial, like height and how much a person weighs.

The joke I made though was a reference to Pauly returning to playing ACTA after a prolonged absence coming over and asking me if distances were given in inches or cm, D'oh!

and LBH is still going on about it almost 2 years later

hey, my intro to mineature gaming was space marine (now epic: armageddon) which was then and still is measured in cm...
