AoD - Firing and use of firing templates

I assume that for main guns you hold the template over the gun, for secondary and tertiary weapons just hold it over the ship centre, or funnel or which ever is deemed the centre?

Got the rules yesterday, ships are painted and being based all for the first game Monday.

Thanks,

Meausure all distances from the centre of the ship - the models are way overscale for the actual ranges, so the real ship would be very small.

Just a thought, but if you print a set or two of those (the fire arc templates) on overhead transparency material for the type of printer you have, you can place them directly over the model and orient them better. They make transparencies for laser printers, copiers and ink jets. Look for a small package at your local office supply store.

I used the templates which came with VAS - I added the new fire arcs (PW,SW), and put the other style (L,R,FL,FR, etc) on the back.

Then I cut out the ship shape in the centre of the template - that way you can just drop the template over the model - much easier.

I'll have to try that. I downloaded and printed out the templates from the Mongoose website, glued to stiff card stock, and cut out the larger square around it, so having the center cut out would work well, just a bit tough cutting out with the card now. Shame they dont have the torpedo and smoke templates on the website downloads, too. I'm looking at Litko for those in 3D though.
