Any Romulan love?

Some but it was also my first game fighting against Romulans. He did not roll up much in the way of terrain and as I noted, launching 18 suicide shuttles in the first two turns while he was moving 6" at a crack while cloaked was certainly discomfiting for him. Add in the ability to toss 20 drones a turn at a single ship with no ADD or Plasma D made it a painful game for him and a relatively bloodless game for the Feds.

I imagine it harder to learn how to play Romulans than how to play against them, especially for someone who frequents these forums as often as you do :D

Like I said regarding the other Romulan player's report - sounds like your friend walked right into your trap and played to your tune...and this probably happened because he was used to dictating the terms of the engagement using the strengths of the Klingon fleet. Strengths that are entirely absent with this fleet.

eldiablito,

How did your initiative rolls pan out? If the Feds were able to HET on you, sounds like you were forced to move first and telegraghed your intentions. I try to make all critical ship moves last (not always possible), I haven't played Romulans yet but I would think this even more important whith them.

PS: Do they still hold Pacificon in San Mateo every September? Used to attend Gamescaucus and Pacificon every year back in the 80's. Great conventions.

I didn't post it, largely because the die rolls were fairly even, but whenever it was THAT crucial turn for the Romulans to decloak, I would lose the initiative roll. I held back the first time, but it only delayed my attack run several more turns. I became a bit rushed on my second attack run and that is when I lost my second initiative. Again, I blame myself for the loss. I should have held back, but a tie where my Romulans never fired is a bigger loss to me as then we are not even playing, IMO.
