Any news on fleet box contents and pricing?

Bear in mind the Romulans don't get any battlecruisers though.

Hopefully we find out next week what's made it into the boxes.

That list was so old I deilibertly was not refering to it hoping that they would have a update list.

The list does not list the Fast Heavy Cruiser, which is probably one of the 4 Heavy Cruisers(2CAs & 2NCAs) as well as the. Command Cruiser.

The Fedreration simply calls their Heavy Battlecruiser (BCH) a Battlecruiser (BC). So the bow would probably contain 2 Battlecruisers. A varients of the BC are supose to be identical so they could be painted up as in one of the initial 3 varients offered. (Not memory is foggy but I think Matt mentioning that at some point they might make a different model that had a gun deck to represent the BCF. I personally am going to add that to all my models so that all would be outwardly identical.

The DNG (missile armed) and DNF (plasma armed) are suppose to be externally identical its all comes down to detailing in paint to make them different.

Thank you Rambler! :0 (and ooh, thank you Mongoose!) I would be very happy with the presence of a fast heavy cruiser, Command Cruiser and two Battlecruisers :)

P.S Looking foward to hearing about how the "promotional" Heavy Command Cruiser is going to become available "at possibly no cost"(?) Freebie given away with pre-orders?

Did they mention that as a possibility?

The Heavy Command Cruiser being a limited "promotional" item, possibly given away as a bonus for (almost) free, for doing something like making an order? or spending a certain amount? or pre-ordering? Or something along those lines, has been hinted at...vaguely. No specifics. Hence my curiousity. :D

No, the Federation calls their BCH a BCH, and the battlecruiser is the CB. Two different ships, one's a true BCH and the CB's a CC with extra phasers in the saucer and another drone rack. All three BCH variants have the neck gunhouse, they're all identical externally. I'm certain you'll only see one BCH in the box.

I don't recall seeing any mini for the CS, so if the CF is going to replace anything it'd be the CS. CS is very similar to the CA, a CA could easily stand in for a CS. Or a CC/CB, for that matter.

CC is likely to be a limited-run promotional item, I'd be surprised to see it in a standard stock item like the fleet box.

My guess is that the Fed Fleet box is likely to look something like this:
DNG
BCH
CF
CAx3
NCAx2
NCLx2
OCL
DW
FFB
FFx2
POL

The CB isn't a battlecruiser, it's a heavy command cruiser; if it was a true battlecruiser, it would have been ineligible to be turned into the Vincennes-class CX.

There has been a mini done for the (CS) Strike Cruiser, as well as for the Heavy Command Cruiser (CB). So both will make an appearance somehow. I am hopeful that the Strike Cruiser will indeed be in the Fleet box, together with the Fast Cruiser.

I've never heard of a Heavy Command Cruiser being called a Battlecruiser. I can see why some might mistake it for one (the two ship types are quite close in capabilities after all,) but the Heavy Command Cruiser, as it's name suggests, is based on the Constitution, not the Kirov. The only Federation Battlecruiser is the Kirov based BCH and it's variants.

Despite being tougher and meaner than the battlecruiser the CB is a Flagship, intended to keep out of trouble when it can in order to coordinate operations. It is obviously a potent force when it does engage in combat, but that is not it's primary role. The BCH meanwhile, although it also has Flag capability, is the true combatant frontline warship. That's how I see it anyhow.

Yes, the fed CCH is the "CB". Or at least that's the designation on the counter, according to the information I have (Fed Comm Communique #71). The term "battlecruiser" is used in a wide variety of ways by different fleets and at different times. Given that the BC(H) was in the game prior to the CB (AFAIK), it probably was the only Fed "battlecruiser" until the CCH/CB came along. I'm pretty sure that the original reference to "battlecruiser" could not mean "BCH" in the list I posted, because the BCH was explicitly listed seperately.

Maybe they'll give them away for play testing!!!!
I just hope it's something I can participate in as I really want one fo the CBs

Ok my earlier post was made from a Droid while I was doing something else. The Adding a Gundeck comment was suppose to relate to the DN as they are suppose to be identical and I feel they would use a Gundeck to place the "swappable" weapons be they Drone Racks (DNG) or Plasma Launchers (DNF).

Arguing over box composition is pointless but I think if you look at the Klingon Box and see 2 - C7s then you can pretty much see that the Fed Box would be real close to that same layout and have 2 Battlecruiser.

Now why do I keep calling them Battlecruisers and not Heavy Battlecruisers. Because thats what the Feds called them just like the klingons called thiers C7s and the Gorns and Kziniti called thiers Heavy Battlecruisers. The Kziniti when they updated the standard heavy unit the Strike Cruiser started calling them Battlecruiser. So when they made a new class of Heavy Unit that was the largest cruiser size unit that could be built they called them Heavy Battlecruiser. The Gorns when they refitted thier Heavy Cruisers by adding a pair of Light Plasma Launchers and some more phasers also rechristened thier Heavy Cruisers to Battlecruiser. The Klingons and Feds when they upgraded/refitted thier heavy units (Constitution Class Heavy Cruiser and the D7 Battlecruiser) did not rechristen thier ships but kept calling them either a Fed Heavy Cruisers or a D7 Battlecruiser. When they buiit Heavy Battlecruiser they gave them new names the Klingons called thiers a C7 and the Feds never having built a Battlecruiser usually it seemed just called thiers a Battlecruiser. Now a sidenote is that there is not just a BC listed in the Fed Fleet List they are listed as Kirov Class (NCC1751) or the Bismark Class (NCC1761) alternating types every other year thus one is not a varient of the other rather they are both varienst of a unbuit ship.

Could I be wrong and ready to much into this maybe but i don't think so, but I could be.

That said I really do hope that the Fleet Boxes only contain 1 Heavy Battlecruiser class ship and not 2 because they (the BCHs) are supose to be farily uncommon and you would be hard pressed historically to find 2 in the same battle since they were intended to suplament Dreadnaughts.

In any case, with all these pre-order deals around, I'd really like to know exactly what will be in the box before putting down any cash. We already know for sure what's in the Squadron boxes, but I can't compare them without knowing what will be in the Fleet box. Surely the contents must have been decided by now. Can we have some more detail beyond "sixteen ships and a rulebook"?

As I said formerly, I think that was a mistake on Steve Cole's part. (As all powerful and godlike as he is, he does make mistakes occasionally). Note the absence of a Command Cruiser in that initial list. I still think that when he wrote "battle cruiser" he meant to write "Command Cruiser".

And, to reiterate, as I understand it, the heavy command cruiser is not considered a battlecruiser. I see why some might think it is, but I do not think it is. The only battlecruiser the Feds have ever had is the Kirov type. It's not just about toughness and firepower, it's also about their role. The CB and BCH have very different roles.

But this is becoming a circular argument that, indeed, is rather pointless. So I will cease here.

I also agree that two battlecruisers could well be one too many. I am sure we will discover the exact contents shortly, what with there being only two weeks to go before they are released!

Thanks :)

hmm Sadly not really useful compositions that appeal so unless massive bargins will wait for the individual blisters - although might consider buying them and sellling off the ships I don't want...........

Also do we have the prices in pounds at all?

Right on cue! Thank you! :D

(studies fleet box list) Hmm interesting. Amongst other things the Feds have two old light cruisers, a strike cruiser, a fast cruiser, two heavy cruisers, one battle cruiser... nice, nice, lovely. I'm a happy chappie. Interestingly, no command cruiser model? The heavy cruiser will do as one (it always has before), but I know a lovely command cruiser model has been done (as has an even nicer heavy command cruiser). I wonder when and how we can attain them? Blisters I suppose? ;)

No Federation Command Cruiser in the boxes. I think Matthew has something special in mind for them. :)
