Any news on fleet box contents and pricing?

Release is "end of November". Still about a month before you can get your hands on the minis.

Should be a big announcement soon, there was a rush to get the minis designs finally approved so that they could be manufactured, painted, and photographed.

Fleet box is "sixteen ships and rules" for $99.95 US. Not quite sure what will be in that yet. From preliminary lists I have seen, it'll be one each of the "command ships" (dreadnought, BCH, command cruiser) a battle line of two-three cruisers and three light cruisers, two or three each of destroyers and frigates. But the list I saw was very preliminary.

Squadron boxes are $29.95 for five ships, contents identical to existing Starline 2400 squadron boxes.

Examples:
Squadron box 1: Federation: Dreadnought, Heavy Battlecruiser, Heavy Cruiser, (Old) Light Cruiser, Frigate.
Squadron box 7: Same as 1, but new heavy cruiser, new light cruiser, war destroyer instead of last three.
Squadron box 2: Klingons: C8 Dreadnought, C7 Heavy Battlecruiser, D7 Battlecruiser, D6 Heavy Cruiser, F5 Frigate.
Squadron box 3: (Odds and ends): Kzinti Battlecruiser and Frigate, Orion Raider light cruiser, Tholian Patrol Corvette, large (two-pod) and small (one-pod) freighters.
Squadron Box 9: Condor dreadnought, Klingo-Romulan KR heavy cruiser, War Eagle cruiser, Skyhawk destroyer, Battlehawk destroyer.

If the same exchange rate gets used as on NA, the Squadrons will be £24.99 and the fleets somewhere around £83.

To be honest, I'd rather see the models without paint, so I can see the detail.

So your telling me I am going to have the rule book from and entire month before I have mini to use in a game! LOL Wut! I find this not so nice. :( OH well I have a few of these kicking around the house.

I've got a few (well, ~30) of the ADB (plus Shapeways ADB scale ships) and fair-sized 1/7000 scale Fed, Rom and Klink fleets to tide me over until the new minis appear :)

I read over on the ADB website that there might also be a limited release of the Border Boxes using the new models. They make for great starter sets, you get roughly 2x light cruisers, 2x heavy cruisers and 2x destroyers for each of three races plus some extras.

They are all scheduled for November. I believe the plan is for the book to be out in time for Dragon Con in the UK & Thanksgiving in the US.

I've got about a thousand of the ADB minis (of course, half of them are for empires that aren't in ACTA yet... and 25% of the rest are ships that aren't in the game), so anyone who wants a game - come on over!

We are just waiting for the ships to get a lick of paint, and then we will be posting everything up for pre-order. Not long to wait now!

A real shame we don't get to see the unpainted models. You can make a much more informed decision about buying or not with a naked model. I want to see whether the detail on the 3d renders has translated well.

There's a few images of some of the first run of resin ships in the raw over on the ADB site.

And very nice they look too. Seeing these assembled, but unpainted, would be a bigger selling point for me that seeing someone else's (no doubt excellent) painted ones.

Seeing more of them unassembled like that could be a selling point for me. Having seen that the saucers and nacelles are separate on the Federation ships (especially the CA), I'm going to get some of them (especially the CA, whose dorsal ridge will be much easier to remove because the warp pylons are separate). I wasn't planning on buying any 2500 Klingon ships because there isn't a decent model of a TOS-style D7 (so I may get some 2400 ones instead), but if the Klingon cruisers have separate superstructures then I may get some for kit-bashing purposes.

The 2400 D7s aren't up to much. Far too small with an odd-shaped "head".

There was a pic of one of the unassembled metal prototype D7s next to the 2400 one somewhere over at ADB (couldn't find it again). The body, neck/head and engine/wing stub parts were all separate.

EDIT: Found it, actually it's a D6 which might suit your needs better since it doesn't have the hull plating detail. http://www.federationcommander.com/Newsletter/September_2011/images/Klingon_D6_2400_vs_25001.JPG

(You'll get to see from 1-6 of these in the flesh in a month or two if you're still not sure:))

The 2500 D6 may lack the wing surface detail of the D7 but it still has the TMP-style surface detail on the front of the engineering hull and engraved line round the bow, plus the outgrowth on the aft superstructure. I didn't notice before how badly distorted the bow of the 2400 D7 was; thanks, Iain, for pointing it out. And Noble Knight have just sold out of FASA D7's.

If the 2500 D6 has a separate superstructure which I can throw away and replace with something scratch-built that actually looks like a D7 superstructure, I might take some. Apart from that, it's half way between a D7 and a K'Tinga, so the question then becomes whether it's easier to get rid of the TMP details or finish the upgrade.

Otherwise I take my chances with Shapeways...

Finally won a game! My excelsior got kicked in twice. my fed frigaty type vessel couldnt beat two oponents, and neither could a constitution and a frigate beat 3 D7's and a weird ship i dont recognise. Playing that last reverse, 2 of my d7's got anihalated in 1 volley, and then mopped up quite after that. 2nd time around playing reverse, held fire until was certain to hit, then blew the conie out of space. The frigate still got one of my d7's in one volley, but my remaining ships cleaned it up nicely, despite my accidentally assigning no power to anything on my biggest ship for the last turn....erm...and that's taken me two hours. Damn, was meaning to do something else.

Finally found that post I was looking for. My annotations in [square brackets]

As far as I am aware there is no such thing as a Fed Battlecruiser, there is only the Heavy Battlecruiser.

Looking at the context of the list, Could Steve perhaps mean COMMAND Cruiser, rather than Battle Cruiser(?)

I love the look of these lists. So these will be what, around £80 a box?

Interesting,
but one thing i`ve noticed is that the Roms get 2 dreadnaughts..the Condor and the
KC9R, if these list are acurate.
