Animate

I am curious to know if anyone has come up with rules concerning use of the Animate + Form/Set spells, specifically in combat.

The book makes it clear that the animated object uses your skill modifiers, but what about hit points? How much damage can it do with it's attacks? For that matter, how does it attack?

For more insubstantial things, it might be useful to look at the rules governing elementals. For example, animated fire would probably burn someone for the same amount of damage as a fire elemental of the same size. Right?

However. Animating more solid objects would have to be treated differently. For example, if a sorcerer wanted to create a golem servant out of stone, how would one determine the damage of it's attacks? Or the size of it's natural weapons? You probably could not parry the fist of a size 36 stone golem, but a size 6 one you most certainly could.

As a side note, not all skills really make sense to be based on the sorcerer's value. Specifically Brawn.

Any thoughts? Has this already been addressed somewhere?

A sorcerer throwing his staff at an opponent, having it surround the target like a snake, and then go rigid, wrapping the target in a rope of solid oak seems to be a good application.

Did anyone have any thoughts on the damage etc questions? My PC has just acquired a Grimoire with a bunch of Form/Set and Animate spells and I need to think about creative uses.

An animated statue with a sword seems an obvious choice, but if it would cause more damage just clubbing, I'd be inclined to go that direction. I'd be inclined to suggest its STR is equal to its SIZ for damage bonus calculation, but any other ideas would be gratefully received.
