Animal Movement

Mongoose
Just got Animal Encounters hoping that it would clarify the base speeds for creature movement. However, apart from modifiers such as W+2 or F-1 etc, movement speeds weren't mentioned.

Rather disappointed with this as it was also overlooked in the Core Rulebook (see previous thread: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=39025&highlight=animal+encounters+movement)

When will this be addressed through errata? Or who has suggestions.house rules?

I haven't seen the book yet but it may likely use the CT animal movement ratings. Just out of curiosity, how are the animal illustrations in the book?

Using CT rules is an option, if you've got access to the CT rules. As for the illustrations, they're few and far between.

Arrgh. I wish someone would publish a 101 Animals supplement with a graphic of each animal. Every time I've run an animal encounter, someone asked "What does it look like?"

Every..frakkin..time. *sigh*

Guess I'll just keep gathering pics from books and the Web.

The thing is nearly all players want to picture other things and if theyre attacking something they want to know if it looks scary or not, if its big or small.

I think when it comes to a random animal encounter, a short one sentence description of appearance is enough for players to paint their own mental image.

Recently I have had my Cstars players go up against some Karrak'in.
I didnt even call them that at first, but instead pretty much said they have bumped into "things that looked like three-foot wide spiders with three heads each with some metallic fangs". The players who didnt have the pdf themselves got a picture without needing the image provided and more description wasnt needed than that, at least to provide a visual.
