Ancients flight computers

Just wondeing, why do the Ancients have flight computers?
Their CQ is always 7.
They have no crew score, therefore can't be skeleton crewed.
So why would they ever use a flight computer - apart from a "trait sink" when taking 3/3, 3/6, 6/5 and 6/6 crits?

Because they can?
they would have advanced computers they are ancients, they just don't really need them in the game

But surely the flight computer trait, like other traits, is simply an in-game mechanism for representing their abilities? For example Shadows Shields are not really shields - they use the trait to represent the Shadows ability to absorb damage. The Mag Gun's Beam trait is not to say it is literally a Beam weapon, it is to represent the multiple hits it can cause and the fact that interceptors can't stop it.

So, what special ability is the ancient flight computer trait meant to represent, considering it doesn't actually do anything?

The Traveller has a Power Drain Field that can cause ships to "act as if" Skeleton Crewed and Crippled.

Presumably a Flight Computer on an Ancient Vessel allows it to ignore the effects of the Skeleton Crewed part...

Basically, it is a catch-all to ensure Ancients can never suffer from Skeleton Crew.

With respect, they still can, Mr Sprange according to the rules as written! ;)

If the Traveller's Power Drain makes a ship act as if crippled, including rolling for traits, it's possible that the Ancient will temporarily lose Flight Computer and hence WILL act as if Skeleton Crewed :)

Takes an Ancient to do it though. . .

That's for the ancients part and what about Shadows Flight Computer which diseapered ?

(sometimes a CQ4 min is a nice thing when you are on the bad side of an opposite CQ check)

Ancient flight computers are there so they can play Tetris. They've got to do something in the 1000 year breaks between the Great Wars.

That makes about as much sense as Lorien...so it's probably canon too ;)

But they just plug any random blondes that land on their planet into their ships. Their pilots aren't neccesarily that good. :D

I think it's just so that they've got an extra trait they can "sacrifice" if they have to lose a random trait...bet you didn't think of that one :P

It's an example of go faster stripes actually having an effect!

:D

Even blondes should have a chance to escape from gravitic shifters. So give them a decent CQ ;) (did I said IQ :D )

Hey. Even the non corporeal need a break now and then... ;)
