Ancient, which one to use

Hello all,

in our ongoing campaign i got an Ancient ship for one combat.
I have EA 3rd and will go for Minabri in a 11 Battle priority game.

So the ancient would take up 8 points...

so which ancient would you use, and what to bring as support
(currently i have all EA 3rd ships at hand)

I wouldn't bother, 8 battle points are much better spent on lower level ships. Ancients are fun but really don't have much chance of winning - you'll get shut down by crits every turn. Having said that, Minbari are one of the better opponents for them, since they completely ignore their primary defence (stealth).

If you have to use one then Dark Knife is good (SM plus stealth plus nasty weapons) - just kill the Leshaths first else they'll be reducing your stealth to 1+! The Lordship and Triumviron are also quite good bets, Triumviron in particular has very fun guns :lol: . But in terms of winning the fight, Ancients are not a good way to go.

Traveller is the WORST, although it is by far the best mini.

after looking at the stats i will take a Darkknife or a Triumviron i think.

Along with it i will throw in an Omega, 1 Nova,
2 Hyperion, 1 Atemis and 2 Hermes for the total of 11 Battle points.

What do you think ?

With a Dark Knife I'd take more initiative sinks than that. Say 4 Artemis, 4 Assault Hyperions, 3 Olympus and 2 Hermes. You need your DK to move last so it doesn't get 8 Shantavi's pointing at it!

yeah, wish the scenario was different, just so my poor favored son could play (the Lordship...you know the real Lordships...the globe with the phalus gun). But the Darknife is a better choice.

I´d go with the Triumviron, mainly because it´s my favourite Ancient from the show (and those beams are nasty!)

I wonder why Mongoose keeps mixing uo the pictures of the Lordship and the Thoughtforce (first Armageddon, now the Fleet Book) btw, but that´s another story...

I think the Triomviron is the most fun to play

Lordship is probably the hardest, but you'll just sit there marking off damage and critts all game.

I keep thinking I should sit down and build some new Kisihiac ships and convert the stats so I can field a full battlefleet. Why are the Gaim venturing into space now...because the Lords of Kirish are coming with large vats of chocolate. lol :twisted:

well there achients you can use any of them but the dark knif would be great Sm stealth give it back to the boneheads!!!

As far as which to use, I would go with the one with 300 hitpoints and the shields...
